Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets PC 100% Walkthrough - Part 14: Uncovering the Past

Going to girl's bathrooms with hysterical undead ladies to pickup some Peepin' Tom's journal is never a smart thing to do Harry. Yet as luck would have it, Peepin' Tom Riddle is very familiar with the Chamber of Secrets. Is Hagrid really responsible for such a catastrophe? Or could it be Riddle? Now if Harry Potter franchise ever taught us anything, it's that Slytherin is responsible for all things evil.
So enjoy a moonlight walk in castle grounds, giant Hagrid getting arrested with no evidence whatsoever, a visit into the Forbidden Forest full of gnomes, bowtruckles, imps, pixies, and spiders. Yes...spiders aplenty in all their varieties. If Aragog's minions wouldn't be so easy to dodge, if his aim would have been better and his voice would be less silly, this could have been a fun and challenging bossfight. Oh well...
Oh, and does anyone recognize Lucius Malfoy's voice? It's Jim Dale, the narrator from the Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone PC game, and he is also the narrator in the US version of this very game.

*Note that all 6 secrets in this area (+2 additional ones next to the Greenhouse that is inaccessible at night) were discovered in Part 13: Exploring Castle Grounds, yet they count separately. All the Bertie Bott's Beans have respawned and all the Wizard Cards we've collected from locked chests have turned into a single Bertie Bott's Bean each. So it doesn't matter if you collect the Wizard Cards during nightime or daytime, however if you pass up on the nightime in the beginning of the game and this part of the story, you will miss a few beans.

Kristen Lamprecht It's even worse in the 6th gen console versions, where Ron doesn't even bother to accompany you at all... Harry just follows the spiders by himself after reading Tom Riddle's memory 😐

Same. It was My Early teen year when this game was released way back in late 2002... i was ONLY 13.....
This sounds and voices Aragog makes here is so much scarier than the movie
9:33 It was almost like Hagrid knew Ron & Harry were listening in without even seeing them
Playing this level while being an arachnophobic. Truly an unforgettable experience.

I feel you, I’m also arachnophobic
it's funny to think that Hagrid knew that Harry and Ron were spying on him, Dumbledore and Lucius Malfoy and he then obviously turned in the direction of where they were hiding and told them to follow the spiders.
Lmao Ron just encouraging Harry to break all the rules to talk to Hagrid 😂
I always hated going down the hallway to moaning myrtles bathroom because of that music!

the chamber of secrets pc game has a whole different atmosphere to it than the ps2 version, same game but the experience isn't, love it.

I've actually always been fascinated by the PS2 versions of both the 1st and the 2nd game from watching trailers. Very different from the PC ones, never got my hands on them unfortunately :(

I played the heck out of hp cos on pc loved that game! 🙂 never owned the PS2 ver but I have played a bit of the ps1 version which I own now don't have my xp now sadly
I find The Fight with Aragog can drain as much Stamina as The Fight with The Basilisk Long & Short of it is you need a lot of Wiggenweld Potions on hand

I was today years old when I learned you can use the gnomes to eat the Horclump Mushrooms for beans.
It's kind of impossible to take the Aragog fight seriously when he not only sounds like that, but repeats the same three noises every time you shoot him.
Hagrid won't be happy with Harry Potter now he's killed Aragog

A very small detail that I like is that after casting _Lumos_ on the gargoyle at the start of the entrance Harry's wand stays lit for the rest of the level until the fight with Aragog.
When I was a little kid, I was too scared to fight Aragog. Took me awhile to get past him because of that.

@@imagine778 Aragog honestly puts the Basilisk to shame in terms of intimidating appearances... I've only beaten the PS2 and Gamecube versions though, so I don't know how scary PC Aragog is in comparison.

I struggled with this part, I hate spiders and this game was filled with them, even in the lessons

Was it this one or the socerers stone one where they can walk towards you and theres creepy ambience ost?
i got stuck getting to aragog as a child... always thought it was some game breaking glitch that prevented me from progressing. i wish i could back in time and figure it out... oh well

Funny you say that, because I remember being stuck there as well! It was in fact due to that cutscene when Harry enters Aragog's lair. One of the spiders said: "Aragog, a human is here!" And that's the point at which I was stuck. The game did not freeze or anything, the cutscene simply refused to move forward. Skipping the cutscene was no solution at all, as the way cutscene skipping works is that the screen goes black while the game skims through a cutscene, depending on its duration. When the duration is infinite, so is the cutscene skipping attempt. This problem was only fixed by a new OS, Windows XP at the time if I remember correctly.
The LUMOS Spell continuously lasts when in the Forbidden Forest!

Very similar scenario to the one in the first game, where you have to use Flipendo on all orange snails to make a Card appear. I always thought leaving them alone and thus increasing the difficulty would be cooler, I would never expect to be rewarded for the easier way.

Same as final Quirell boss from 1st game - why Dumbledore & Ron appeared when boss is dead, not earlier lol
Aragog shouldn't even have had a boss fight, He's blind. whatever, better then just having to fight an army of his and Mosag's offspring, and that's allot of offspring.
