It makes it look so simple when you do it! Child me would have been astounded :')

I agree with the disappointing function of the Seraph 😂😂.. All that grinding in Venice, underwater and Tibet was to just open a small wooden door! 😅
I love allied fight situations like monks vs henchmen, soldiers vs raptors, and soldiers vs giant scorpions. It’s fun to watch the fights and snipe the enemies from a distance.
Thanks a lot for the guide ❤ natlas mine shortcut with the cowboy was brutal🤯 and the one in the Coliseum was very good too. Marvelous guide 😊🔝
So happy it helped! I'll be making the same kind of guide for TR II in the following month
I assume the first batch of boulders wouldn't kill or harm the snow kitties in their pit, right? Asking for an ammo-saving friend 😉
@@akira-sama9410 oh no, all enemies are immune to all traps :( TR1 Doppelganger and TR3 Nevada Soldier are somewhat of a scripted exception
This level lighting differs so much in remaster. More realistic, but I wish they make it a bit lighter.
Answering to your question: yes white tigers do exist in the real world. Habitat: far syberia in Russia and ALSO Bengal region near Tibet and Nepal. They are included in Red Book of Rare animals (1 white tiger to 10 000 of regular ones) near extiction, so it's an official crime to do them any harm. Special forest services help them to survive and breed and see no ones hurt them
@@MrSatanislav It's moments like these I'm happy Lara doesn't exist :D But good to know they are placed correctly in Tibet, and the devs made them rare amongst all the more common leopards
Two videos for my weekend! Hooray!
Wow, two videos on one weekend! Yay!
Love these videos, you have such a great way of explaining everything, even to TR veterans like me. Keep the content coming please!

The white tigers are probably a variation of the Bengal Tiger or even the Siberian Tiger. They used to be found in southern Tibet, among other places, but some information suggest they cane no longer be found in the wild. They became popular when Sigfried and Roy, a duo of magicians (both of which died a few years ago), started using them (and white lions) in their acts.
Also in the wild they are very rare due to a genetic mutation and most do not reach adulthood because of lack of camouflage. In captivity they are forced to inbreed causing them deformeties and other health problems.
I'm so much looking forward to our granade-eating friend. I had a special save as a kid, to be able to visit him whenever I wanted. 😂
The stern: The rear section of the ship. I assume Maria Doria was bombarded while it was enternig a cave. The big rock collapsed down with the part of the ship consisting of the living quarters, forming an air pocket. The other part flipped upside down underwater.
I prefer to take the challenge of fighting the diver with a harpoon, trying to avoid much damage.
1:20 If that were the case, then she'd been spending the previous level spitting fireballs from somewhere, Tony-style 🤣🤣🤣
Referring to my from the TR1 remastered speedrun video: At 52:22 (while we should be listening to the lovely chant 😉) I activated the subtitles to see whether Laras' 'Aha' gets translated. Answer yes it gets translated (in my case with for German not-fitting 'uh-huh'). Funny Side Note: Right before that when Lara Kills the Bird the subtitles say 'music' and 'applause' 😂
For me, the auto-generated subtitles always give the word: "foreign" whenever there's even the slightest 'thumping' noise :D
@@zelgadis115 That's quite the language there. 🤣 I'd be curious to what other watchers, maybe with another native language get to read.
40:05 imagine you’re low in health and you fall into this stupid trap 😂 well done trolling developers, well done
Unfortunately, the only way (from 17:29) to get onto the lifeboat without taking damage is a bit tricky. Instead of letting yourself fall from the position in the video, you have to run into the hole from the left or right and then use the action to perform a grab so that Lara doesn't bounce off the wall and fall into the water further down next to the lifeboat. Lara can then climb up from the water at the corner of the wooden tile in the video at 18:01. You can find an example on YT if you search for "TR2 deck lifeboat without damage". Unfortunately, it is very precise. Lara's head disappears into the yellow edge of the boat, but that's OK, because Lara has to pull herself up from the side at the front corner of the wooden tile, the corner closest to Lara at the given timestamp. You should save at the top beforehand or at least consider that you will touch the water before you have picked up the key, which will prevent the achievement "A Land Walk". With a previous save, you simply drop once with fall damage, pick up the key for the achievement, and then simply reload to continue the run without fall damage.
I've never quite felt comfortable with the underwater glitches myself, hence I rather did this level medpack free the hard way, but it is entirely possible!
The forced damage after dropping from the position at 5:59 (tile still intact) would be slightly lower for players using modern controls, as the fall damage is always slightly lower. However, if you trigger the tile to fall and hang from the edge while it is still up, you will be teleported straight down (modern controls) with no damage at all.
Wow, I had no idea! Like I said in my Caves level video, true mastery will come from combining both Tank & Modern Controls, I will get there one day
If you only have one prayer wheel, you should also make sure to save before/after inserting it into all slots, but not in the middle. Otherwise, the prayer wheel will be missing from your inventory and the bug with selecting the seraph may no longer work. If you also have another quest item such as a key in your inventory, you can no longer change the selection with left and right after opening the inventory and going up to the quest items. Switching between the items ends the bug, so select the first item that is displayed, even if it is a key and not the seraph.
For all achievement hunters out there. If you kill enemies with the shots from the black snowmobile, they apparently count towards the total number of enemies killed in the statistics, but they also prevent the Pistols Only achievement. Driving over enemies should not block the achievement, so in this case it is better to always stick with the red snowmobile with boost and just drive over the enemies or just shoot them with Lara.
That actually makes perfect sence, as firing from the Turret Snowmobiles does increase the Ammo Used/Ammo Hit count in the stats scree. I also avoided using it altogether for my Pistols Only run on PS4, while driving over enemies did not invalidate the Achievement, but thank you for pointing this out, I'll mention this clearly in my future Time Trial + Pistols Only video!
Except for weird-playing as a kid, basically it was a first walkthrough for me. "Monastery" become a level when I started really enjoying the game. The level itself feels like a good video game indeed. Also I did not remembered not this level at all, not what will be next (exept the final boss). P.S. _[when Bartoli mercenaries attacks Lara while every single monk friendly and healthy]:_ - _Now All of China knows you're here._ (Mulan meme)
I'm sad. U used a medpack=(
@@MrSatanislav I know, right? This is how redemption arcs begin
As a child I always stopped at this level because I was terrified 😅😅
Those creepy eyes... Ugh... I have to note that the level almost returns to TR1 classic level style. Ancient location with traps (which perfectly fit to the level theme), collecting multiple keys each from its dedicated challenge (like in St. Francis Folly). The only difference is it is not abandoned. I personally think it is too long, but so are most TR2 levels. Most players like that.

The original skyline of Venetian buildings was way better.
Agreed, this is the same skybox used in the Unfinished Business Egyptian level, which is odd
36:45 "I'm pacified to do anything else" Did you perhaps mean *petrified* , as opposed to pacified? Pacify = to be very calm Petrified (in this context) = to be very afraid And that Prayer Wheel glitch is very interesting. But, I agree that this is such a nice level, it's kind of a shame to not go through it all.
I think I tried to say: "that we'll need to pacify", a more polite way of saying obliterate :D
38:33 - if you are speed running going to the right and pressing the button for the door is a little slower. If you go to the left and head straight for the mines you can glitch under the level exit door... but it takes a little bit of set up and make takes lots of tries. I did a short of this alternative method.
I've seen that short, you're a much braver man than I am, I'm positively terrified of underwater glitches, ever since Lara disappeared from the map like this in Lud's Gate for me :D
@@zelgadis115 It took me far to long to actually do it, Lara kept ending up in a void because I didn't have enough speed
Great video again mate! I never played Tomb Raider 2 properly when it first came out, I only ran around in the home. So I played these levels for the first time in the remaster 6:07 - that jump annoyed me a took me a while to do, I did it but at a slightly different angle to you. Barkhang Monastery is a great level, I did put a skip in the shorts on my channel if you want the speed running achievements. I got the same prayer wheel as you did but I got to the room a different way by corner bugging through a moveable block
@@TheGameBreakersUK Glad you like it sir! Good idea to glitch through the movable block in the fire room, didn't think of that, I'll be using that for my speedrun
Harry: "I have to be careful to not wake Goyle!" Also Harry: Proceeds to make a ruckus by knocking over cauldrons and other things with the Flipendo spell
Interesting that the Bloody Baron is the only ghost that can actually harm Harry in this game.
Only getting around to watching these now! Least I’ve got a few videos to watch now lol
I’m really enjoying each level twice. First time through playing, and second time through watching your video.
That's great! I've been playing classic Tomb Raiders while watching Tina Von Rotter's Let's Plays, my inspiration for these videos all those years back
Consider a video slideshow and/or conversation of the many unique photo screenshots you've taken in TR1 and/or TR2. Or maybe like a choice picks of your favorite captures you've taken? I listen to so much of you - I can't imagine your audience not enjoying listening to you for 10 minutes longer as you talk through some screen captures. Ahaha.
Actually I'm toying around witht the idea to make a slideshow video of all the pictures we took during the Let's Play for all 3 Remastered Games, including timestamps, it would pretty much be a vacation photo album :D
@18:00 I like your spider scroll/crawl animation. It helped stimulate me to feel comfortable, too! Ahaha!
I kind of do understand why the mandatory fall damage exists. If you take into account how it makes you play, it makes some sense. When it happened to me I was as flabbergasted as anyone, so I adopted a more min-maxy approach to jumps/falls, topping myself off with HP before doing one, and looking more carefully at my surroundings to see if I could avoid it, or minimize it like in most cases, so at least you've got some gameplay feedback that you're doing something well because you lost less life. The obviously bad is that you CAN'T avoid it using legit ways, so you're forced to do some buggy stuff if you truly want that HP. The good? It got me to play more carefully. It got me to max out my HP whenever possible, since I didn't know when another one of these was around the corner. And that made me survive way more stuff, falls being prime among them, since there are a lot more falls that can kill you if you don't have enough HP in this game, which is a direct result of the improved interconnectedness and verticality of the levels, The Deck comes to mind on that one. It also helped me survive some traps and enemies as well and have a better time with the game, since I was always full bar whenever I fought anything and hooo boy there's a LOT of stuff to fight in this game.
The improved visuals helped me understand what I'm looking at in these later mediterranean levels. I am happy! Now, I am off to these Tibet levels! Ooh! I think they're my favorite!
You missed asking questions to the janitor at the train station
How odd, I don't remember him every being interactible in the PC version of the game, perhaps they fixed it for the Switch one?
Ah, Barkhang Monastery! A central hub area with side tasks, monks vs henchmen, and an utterly gorgeous atmosphere. What more can a raider ask for? Looking forward to it.
No need to approach the opening of the 2 blocks so far back for the Tibetan Express achievement. Once you get to the final block before the jump, save it, back up and angle the snowmobile to the left and it will make it. If not, then it's an easy load and retry. I didn't know about the shortcut to the right tho. Nice!
@@SueGahm you're absolutely right, in this case I was just stingy with saves count :)
I managed to glitch my way through the glass by accident at the beginning instead of getting the AK guy to shoot the window. I ran up towards the window and rolled to face them and instead rolled through the glass and on the other side. I did it a second time as I fell in the water getting the pistols for the trophy and it worked again.
I like the fact that because they fixed explosives and driveover kill count you actually have different playstyle comparing to original playthrough.
Absolutely, it is so liberating not to worry about vehicular kills or explosive killing blows
I can't remember if it was like this in the original as well, but the plane looks weird. Kind of... to slim for it's height?
The FMVs are the same as the original. All they did was upscale them.
Starting cutscene is full of charm. Lara steals the plane, knows how to operate it, and how to navigate to very far place, but seems to be surprized when fuel runs out. We have no actual reference what that alarm means, but I always thought it just fuel indicator. And then she casually survives plane crash, as it was planned. Absolute masterpiece and essence of classic Lara character.
It is such a defining Lara Croft moment, rivaled only by her bike stunts when following Natla's Henchmen after TR1 Egypt
Not sure if you’ve since been made aware but rather than waiting for the guard to shoot out the window you can actually just roll through it if approaching diagonally, might save time and health 😁, great guides by the way
I had no idea you can roll through the glass, thanks for sharing!
