How Harry Enfield could do these sketches without pissing himself is beyond me...............I can hardly breathe here :D

I remember being in tears when this was on in the early 90's. For me, this character was the funniest Harry ever came up with. Thanks for posting this. Brilliant. 5 stars, easily.

what I find funny about him is that its not like he's hard of hearing or forgetful, it's he's pretty much demented.

My favourite Harry Enfield character

I knew a landlord not too far from this. He never knew how much anything cost and would make it up on the spot. If you told him the price he’d go with your number.

I remember laughing so much when I first saw this character it hurt! Just brilliant.

"Peas or custard?" Enfield absolutely had it in the early 90's. He's been relegated to the level of Little and Large these days.

Most of Harry's characters are of his experiences of everyday life growing up, he was good friends with John Sullivan who also wrote scripts of real life stories and experiences

Les the barman was based on a guy called Jack ( sorry i cant remember his surname ) , in the day he was a caretaker at Chichester District Council and in the evening he was a barman at the George and Dragon pub in North Street Chichester in the 1980's. He was generally half cut, as he 'worked' the optics all evening , he was hilarious , didn't care what he said or who he said it to....and he would have given the PC/WOKE brigade severe medical complications.

Masterpiece.

Enfield based a lot of his characters on real people he'd met in his life. I wonder if there really was a barman like this that he encountered? :D

Reminds of the Prince of Wales, Rockingham Road, Uxbridge. It's been bricked up for some time has now reopened as a Indian Bar & Restaurant. Well worth a visit.

I've worked with people like this and its so bang on. These old timers who are in the early stages of onset dementia, and have done Thier jobs for that long that they have forgotten who, what or where they are. Or they have been that hard of hearing, but are too proud to admit they have a hearing problem, so they spend the whole day fucking everything up and getting everything wrong.

Why did Harry Enfield not persue this character; instead of endlessly wasting our time with the patience testing Tim Nice-But -Dim, and Kevin the teenager. This is way funnier! The bar does look like the Men Behaving Badly bar as LeonShephhard says. I do like the lasses at the end with her knickers on her head and torch in her mouth, and t'other one with mushy peas on her head!

Do you want that in the garden? Oh you have a garden?..?? No, unfortunately not..😂

*So* early 90s, it hurts. Back when most when to Little Chef or the now long defunct Happy Eater on the roads for cheap, "fashionable" food. No Wetherspoons type meals back then. However, you can still have some but *very* few, pubs like this around today.
