    It was Preston’s work for welfare ideas that led to the self employment program here in Manitoba. I signed up for this when I was laid off at the age of 45 and have not looked back. Instead of living on welfare I support myself and still pay taxes. Oh how that common sense idea was slammed. Yet, the NDP government used it despite criticizing it themselves. Thank-you Preston for holding your ground.

    The basic liberal view is same view held by the conservatives of Canada. And while it's possible to not like the current liberal party, that's still not the same story of a basic liberal view now made more respectful, more responsible, to a more mature liberal view called a rational-democratic view (relative to, not the current Canadian liberal party, rather to a new rational-democratic political party).

    I think the issue is he ignored giant economic problems around what climate science is doing. Then he tried to go for giant anti-immigrant sentiment and got crushed. I’m no fan of Trudeau’s job as PM but in general the Liberal gov has been pushing partially towards some better long term policies. I’d say at this stage the NDP ideas around long term change are more viable but that is my opinion.

    I really miss Harper. Always felt our country was in strong hands under his administration. I didn't even think about government back then. It just operated quietly behind the scenes providing what we needed. More importantly I felt a national pride, something that is very much missing under JT.

    One of the biggest problems a post-Liberal government is going to have is the Senate. Right now there are only 15/105 Conservative Senators. Could be some major gridlock on the horizon between the two chambers, for who knows how long.

    I watched videos when Stephen Harper was PM and he pretty much predicted what would happen if Trudeau became PM and he was right. The Stephen Harper days were so much better, Trudeau who said he would balance the budget before he was PM has yet to do that and Canadas debt has doubled since Trudeau been in office.

    Uh... in what world is that true? He was never popular with about 60% of Canadians. He created a "made in Canada" recession (by cutting taxes for the highest earners in the country, which led to a significant increase in unemployment) that was not influenced by events anywhere else in the world.
