@@EarthSense I do have one question. What causes the burn chamber to crack? I've been trying to figure out what caused it to try and prevent it from happening again but I can't seem to figure it out. I clean the igniter area one to two times a week depending on how hard I run the stove.

  • @EarthSense

@@TheYTSucks Being you have a 52i-TC it must be less than 3 years old. Very rare that we see a burnpot issue with units that are so new like that. What kind of pellets are you burning? Are they PFI approved - any labeling on the bag? Most pellets in the marketplace have to be PFI approved, however we have seen some that are not and have seen certain manufactures use additives in the fuel. Let's make sure your bags, whether hardwood or softwood say 100% sawdust. We want to avoid pellets with any kind of binders or additives. Other than the fuel, the only thing I can think of would be a manufacturing flaw with the burnpot. Generally speaking we see Harman burnpots last years and years even with burning consistently throughout the season.

@@EarthSense Yes, the stove is about 3 years old. This season I’m burning Greenteam Platinum Hardwood Pellets. They claim to be 100% made from sawdust. What else should I look for on the bag? I’ll check when I get home from work today.

@@TheYTSucks Sounds good. Some manufactures will have a small 'index table' on the bag highlighting the raw material, moisture content, btu, etc.. You can also do a little investigation online into the manufacture and peak at reviews from others on the product. There is a massive difference between pellets in heat output, ash content, and burnpot residue. I always suggest to try a few different kinds and see what works best for you. Again, we just want to make sure there are no fillers or binders of any sort. Thanks again and keep us posted!

Great video. I recently replaced my burnpot on my P43. One suggestion I would make is to check and retorque the 4 bolts after waiting a week or so. I believe the gasket gives a little after installation. Again, don't overtighten...snug up.

I notice that most of your videos are done with the feed/burn pot mechanism positioned nicely on a waist high table, (though I can't for the life of me understand why you can't stop it from wobbling so much, which is a bit annoying). It would be nice if you were to do some of your videos on an actual stove because that would show exactly how much of a job it would entail. I will say that your videos are always helpful. Thanks.

Thanks for message and feedback. Yeah, wobbly table and uneven floor when shooting a few of these videos. Wish I could have fixed that, but was the best I could find and do with the time allocated. We do have a handful of videos with the actual stoves and going through parts replacement. I'm the one that does the videos and I live in a different state, so most are remote and just the part, however I try to get back to Wisconsin when able to shoot videos at the store with the stoves. Any suggestions for future videos just let us know, glad to hear that they have been helpful. Thanks!

When replacing the burn pot on a 52i harmon it has metal gasket and the paper one should you put metal one back in?? Also I was told to silicon the wires at the back where the come through?? Is that necessary? Thanks in advance..

  • @EarthSense

Hey Ron, thanks for contacting us, happy to help. The metal gasket you are referring to is actually an airflow upgrade that was used on your 52i model. Yes, definitely make sure that is in place along with the Liotherm paper gasket. The silicone on the wires would refer to the igniter wires coming through. Once the igniter wires are pulled back you can silicone around that plug area where the wires comes through, however it is not required. Most earlier units all had silicone on that plug, most newer units do not use silicone on that plug. Hope that helps, any other questions please let us know. Appreciated!

@@mikewhitecotton8551 Hey Mike, no they should not be welded. If there is an issue with the studs, sometimes folks can pound them out. If they cannot be pounded out, one would need to replace the feeder body. Here is a decent diagram image of the studs on the early feeder body like you would have in your XXV. www.stove-parts-unlimited.com/harman-feeder-weldment-1-10-677150-p/1-10-677150.htm

  • @EarthSense

    3 жыл бұрын

Hey John, heard back from our lead tech - It depends on which feeder we are talking about. Cast iron feeder - the studs are threaded into the feeder body with thread lock. Very difficult to get those out. Steel feeder / two versions - these studs are welded in. In any case the feeder body must be removed. If someone is handy and can weld, the broken off stud can be replaced with a 5/16 bolt that is welded in place of the removed broken stud. It’s a hassle for any Harman but the Accentra fs is especially troublesome since the cast body is assembled from pieces and must be ratchet strapped together as it is disassembled at the top.

You should not have to pull out the burnpot when replacing the igniter element - I'll include a video below on Harman Igniter changeout. Additionally, in the coldest part of the season you can flip the igniter toggle to manual so the unit does not cycle on and off as frequent which should conserve the igniter element longer. Just replaced the burn pot gasket on my accentra freestanding. I used a 1/2” socket, a universal joint , small extension and a ratchet, all 3/8” drive. The bolts are welded in. They won’t loosen. The bottom 2 nuts are the easiest . The top 2 are hard. I used a propane torch and heated the nuts first. They all came out fine but a was sweating. Cleaning all the slag or creasote off is essential to get your socket on. You need to hammer the socket on so it won’t slip and round the nuts.
