    Just watched your how to change the auger motor. Good Job, I feel after watching it only one time.. I can go in and replace my auger feed motor when I get back from Mexico, I fully intend to give it a whirl. Enjoyed our time here at Aqua Flamingo.. AKA Ocean Aria.. with my amigo and wife candy.

    Hey me again ,another question on my old p61. When running on room temp, when the stove reaches temperature, it idles down as it should, but it never feeds pellets again and eventually dies out. The control board is calling for the feed motor but nothing happens. But if I crank the temperature, the auger will spin. Does this sound like a dying auger motor?

  • @EarthSense

    @EarthSense

    Hey Ryan, thanks for the message, happy to help. I would suggest we check the room probe - let's make sure connections on the back of the stove are good and the probe isn't in the pathway of any drafts or direct light. Coiling it up and securing to the back of the stove is generally a great placement. See if there is any change. From there I would suggest removing and cleaning the ESP Thermistor Probe (Video Below). The ESP is sensing temp in your exhaust and should be providing accurate data to the control board to maintain the temperature you set on Room Temp Mode. If your auger motor is working and sounding fine when you crank it up and/or when you put the control dial on 'test mode', it should be ok. Play with the feed adjuster dial as well; see if there is any difference when making adjustments between 1-6. Check the simple things here first and keep us posted. Also how tight does the tension ball have to be? And is it supposed to go up and down

  • @EarthSense

    @EarthSense

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Milagros, Yes, you should have some room to adjust the tension ball up and down. It's a minimal adjustment. The primary purpose of the tension ball is for the chain to ride along the top to help guide. Once you have it in the position you want just snug down the bolt, you don't need to crank on it.

    Question, is there any way to install a control/rehostat thingie in the line to regulate the fan motors? I think if I was able to slow down the blower motor the stove would be quieter and would drive us crazy..

  • @EarthSense

    @EarthSense

    Thanks for contacting us. We would definitely not recommend putting a rheostat or regulator in line with any of the blowers - this could present some serious safety concerns. What stove do you have? How are you operating it? What blower is noisy - Combustion or Distribution? A good sealed bearing motor should run pretty darn quiet.. Let us know some details and we can provide some further tips. Thanks!

    @@EarthSense It's a Harman p61a. It's a couple of years old. It's in the living room of a 1450sf house we built. Used it a fair amount the 1st year and less and less the following years. Maybe 6-8 tons all together. All 3 motors plus the feed auger make for a racket. We've looked at the Absolute 43 and it's quieter and seems to have a fair amount of fan regulation so you can turn the distribution fan up and down. I'd like to be able to do the same thing with the P61. The fan seems to run way longer than necessary. And it's pretty loud. I'm tempted to bite the bullet and go for the Absolute but I'm into the P61 for around 5 plus grand and the Absolute is around the same. Right now we heat pretty exclusively with an Empire wall furnace and I'd like to get away from that. Just not that happy with the way things are at the moment. Wouldn't break my heart if Harman traded me an Absolute for my P61.

    @@mikekemsley1531 Thanks for the message and info Mike. One thing you could do would be to put a fire-proof insulating material on the inside of the back and rear panels of the P61 to help deafen the sound. The distribution blower does have the H & L on the control board to adjust the CFM/Blower speed while in operation. You'll see this in both room temp and stove temp modes. Most dealers also offer trade-ins if you were to go that route to the Absolute model. Something like this could be helpful if you decide to insulate the rear panels for sound pellethead.com/product/liotherm-high-temperature-fire-rated-stove-fireplace-fiber-gasket-seal-24-x-12-sheet/ Keep us posted, happy to help. @@EarthSense Thanks, I have been working on sound deadening and have used some ridged foam on the back panels. I'm thinking of constructing a box to enclose the back. The stove vents and exhausts to the outside so venting isn't a problem. Just need to watch out for heat I guess. I haven't had much luck getting any local dealers interested in trading it.

    @@mikekemsley1531 Thanks for the message back Mike. Sounds like you are on it. Yes, be mindful of the clearances to combustibles on the P61 - the P-Series gets hotter than most other models and requires further side and rear clearance to combustibles. Clearances will be in the owners manual - if you need that sent over just let us know. Sorry to hear the local dealers are not interested in trade - we've always done trades, but maybe that is just us. You could always look at selling it through a marketplace as well - generally you can get more for it selling direct than what a dealer would offer you. Keep us posted if you need any other help. Thanks!

    Milagros, if the chain is falling off the sprockets, double check the alignment of the sprocket and make adjustment there. If the chain is not falling off the sprockets and your motor is intermittently stopping and you hear a clicking sound, something is binding somewhere. Open up the sawdust cleanout area, clean and check the slide plate in there. (Make sure your fuel hopper is empty) Check for obstructions and foreign objects. Generally the sprockets only need replacement if the teeth are worn down. When this happens the chain will jump and fall off periodically. Have you tested your auger motor to direct power to ensure it's not a motor issue here? If you want, take a video of what is going on, upload it to KZread and send us the link. Happy to help. Here's a video on the sawdust cleanout box: kzread.info/dash/bejne/nmdhuclqqLW7qZc.html If you need to test your auger motor to direct power here's a video on that: kzread.info/dash/bejne/pKChy6WSeZW9gM4.html Thanks,

At this point I am going to recheck my alignment I think that I need a new sprocket because it looks like the teeth at the bottom are not catching and the chain is coming loose at the bottom while the top of the chain feels very very tight

    @@milagrossmith4891 Thanks for the message Milagros. Yeah if the chain isn't getting a good grip on each of the sprocket teeth than we'll have some issues there with noise and skipping. @@milagrossmith4891 Hi Milagros, thanks so much for sending the video. This is very helpful. The secondary sprocket is not moving which is causing our chain to jump and wear down the teeth on the sprocket connecting to the auger motor. As you put tension on the chain it stops and stalls the feed motor. We need to pull off that second sprocket and see why it is not turning. Something is jammed/stuck/seized up. I believe to remove that sprocket there is a nut on the front and a bolt securing it. I do believe there is a bearing back there. This will be the problem area we need to inspect. The teeth on the auger motor sprocket do look very worn down, but first we need to find out why the second sprocket isn't moving. With it jammed like this it's also putting a lot of strain on the motor, especially when you pull the chain tight. I can also send over a full feed diagram for the Advance if you need it. I'm confident we can get you back to 100% here. Keep us posted on the removal and inspection of that sprocket. Thanks.
