Includes onboard video. Mike 'Spike' Edwards rides at Cadwell Park BSB in the Harley Davidson XR1200 Trophy support races. Winning the first of three races, Mike was cruelly robbed of the chance to fight for the overall title with a broken gear lever forcing him out of the second race gifting the title to Jeremy McWilliams. For the final race of the event Mike rode to a 2nd place gaining enough points to secure his second place overall in the standings.

I agree, however when 30 of them blasted off the line it sounded like a squadron on Lancaster bombers taking off, nothing quite like it....

Man, that looks like fun! I'm glad to see fast Harleys. How heavily modified are these XRs?

Not an expert but there was a race kit. Pipes, electronics ,17 inch front, steering damper and maybe rear sets. Not much really. Braided lines too?

When we raced them there was a fork modification, different shock, they upped the revs to 'dangerous' - keep you hand on the clutch revs, and a handlebar kit.

Please could you tell me which bars where on your XR1200

They were supposed to be Renthal but to be honest, they were just too wide and too straight for me - so I got some Aprila Tuono bars, much better for me and my riding style, I could actually move about on the bike and it handled better.

@@MikeSpikeEdwards did you change the risers too Mike, is the diameter the same ?

The race bikes came with a prep kit from Harris, it had the Renthal bars in with other bits and fitments. I used the risers in the 'race kit' so unfortunately don't know whether that's the same as standard fitment or not.
