Harley Davidson Twin Cam engine Tick

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

My 09 110c.i. CVO Road Glide developed a TICK. This is just a quick video to show what I found and just an idea of what to look for should you happen to discover a similar engine noise.

    This is a pretty specific sound. Most notably it was not a consistent tick. Kind of all over the place. Did not seem to follow the rotation of the engine. If it sounds like mine did I would most definitely put new lifters in. Can’t hurt. Let me know what you find.

    Hi, I have the same or similar ticking noise on my 110 TC, it sounded kinda like yours but also like i would throw some screws in a bucket and shake it. was not consistent and only once the engine got hot. They guy in the garage told me that 2 lifters were broken and the sound is carried out to the top of the engine. However, cam seems broken and oil pump too. Can a broken lifters be the cause or do the lifters brake because something else in the engine might broke first? People are telling that lifters dont break and if there are its because something else broke first. Thanks!

    I have 2017 FLSS (Softail Slim S) and just started to hear the same noise from the engine. Replacing lifters will only be the solution? I think this is because of much more bigger pressure and temperature caused by 110 Screaming Eagle Engine. You should add an oil cooler and oil pump system to cool down the engine. Otherwise, the same problem could occur again.

  • @theharleydavidsonmotorcycl945

    @theharleydavidsonmotorcycl945

    The CVO’s come with an oil cooler. But I have heard of several people with 110 having the same issue. So I do not think it is a heat problem. I think it probably just the lifters that Harley used in the engines. Just my opinion.

    @@genecitarella3516 I do not believe it was from a lack of lubrication. Probably more the way I ride. I put on 10-12k a year and a lot of it is winding roads. I got in the bad habit of just down shifting and engine braking in the turns, instead of just using the brakes and then down shifting. This put a lot of unnecessary wear on those rollers.Brakes are a lot easier and less expensive to replace. I am just guessing at the reason it happened. The bike did have 60000 or so miles on it. S&S are good but the best I have seen so far is Fueling lifters. Everything Fueling is very good especially their Cam chain tensioner pads. Anyone who has SE lifters really should swap them out asap before they let go and destroy the engine.

  • @theharleydavidsonmotorcycl945

    @theharleydavidsonmotorcycl945

    2 жыл бұрын

    It could be because that is the way I like to do it…or it could be that the lift does not fit under the bike frame on the kickstand side. So you have to stand the bike up straight to get it all the way under. It is much easier to pull on the handle bars to get the bike up straight and at the same time push the lift under. Then if I should happen to lose grip of the bars I have the kick stand to catch it on the other side. Also, should I pull it to far over center I can stop it from falling. Doing it from the kickstand side I would have to push the bike up straight and push the lift under. Plus there is nothing to stop it from falling if I were to push it over center. Sorry I took so long to respond. I am sure you have been waiting anxiously for me to answer this important and relevant question.
