Literally went out to my bike the second I watched this and fixed mine
Thank you @blockheadmoto and @sickwideglide for the tech tip. Immediately went out and adjusted the throttle body. Big difference! Again, thanks!
This worked perfectly. My throttle had a deadzone in it and this method of adjusting has made it much more responsive. Thank you.
This! Found you for the original Sportster build and how to videos. More like this please!
Thank you Blockhead and Chris. I was just looking for a throttle adjustment for my Iron 883.
Well I finally became a Patreon supporter as well. I have a great time watching your adventures and seeing the progression of the builds of Goldzilla and now Sportzilla. Between you and Chris explaining in detail the different challenges you’ve faced in theses, builds I’ve been able to kind of keep my poor tired ‘02 Low Rider limping along. Thanks so much for continuing to do what you guys are doing!! John
Wow perfect timing, I'm putting new grips on this weekend and I'm nervous about adjusting the throttle cables.
Excellant "Q-Tip" !!!! (question & answer) . All my years, never been exposed to this one. As soon as I pull my cover ( when the ice melts), I'm checking it out.
Thanks brother, it's like I went and bought a new bike!!
Now I know! Love these tutorials
This happened to me years ago. It took me all day to figure out the problem. I felt like an idiot once I figured it out. Great video.
Boom! Blowing my mind bro! Now I gotta check my bikes.
Hey man this really helps me out cuz I’m trying to be a motorcycle mechanic
Brilliant! Thanks so much 👍
Welcome to the service clinic at low... ehm.... with Chris 😂 great video! Please more of that DIY stuff!

What?
Love that guy! (Thanks Block)
My evo came like that at 5 years old. Adjusted correctly it took a while for the engine to get used to the extra revs. Much better after that. Uk.
Nice one! Quick and dirty :-D Can you also make a Video about the clutch-cable?
Love this format and idea #fiuf thanks Block!
Thank you
Going to check mine as soon as I’m at home
Good info!
Thank You!
Needed a Hoooyaa! After showing how to adjust throttle lol
I'm checking mine when I get home now 😂
Pure awesomeness
Since SE tuning the sporty, I rarely feel the need to full throttle it but you bet your ass I will be. My throttle plate was only a little over half open. lol Definitely thumbs up!
My Sportster is carbureted, so similar, but not quite. It must be an EFI issue, but definitely will check the full range of motion again. Now I have had them just a bit too tight, makes it tough on the hands. Dumb question as I never have had an EFI bike, but I wonder why they aren't all throttle by wire
Good video
I bet my old xl/ wife's bike has this issue. Thanks block I'll be looking at this tomorrow
How easy is it to adjust the clutch? Anyone got any advice, or a link to a video. Can’t seem to find one myself
Tech Tip Tuesday, released on a Friday lol
I just put on a carb rebuild kit for my 2006 sportster low 1200. It idles. And stalls and sometime idles and when I give it gas it stalls. I didn't remover the throttle cables to remove the carb. And I believe they aren't set right. Could this cause this? Thanks!
How do you make the rock throttle snapback
Does this happen with Iron 1200 too....?
Damn I have to readjust mine then. I swapped out some grips and had to adjust the cables a bit. Thought cutting the slack would help but literally feels so sluggish now. I have to go back and adjust again. I feel like I lost All my power lol
The MastaTech
Brb going to check my bike
Chris has a nice collar
POV: you just looked this up and this video is one of the top results
Is there an idle screw on these EFI sportys? just got it and wanna drop the rpm a lil bit
@Dynachop420
3 ай бұрын
no but you can lower the rpm at the dealer with digital tech just a fyi never go below 900 rpm idle ever
Yep
i did this and then my check engine light came on and had to re tune. is this normal?
I've tried to adjust my throttle cable but I cant get it to snap back to idle when I let go of the throttle any suggestions?
@Smanace

Did no prior adjustments on my iron, noticed it today that my throttle isn't snapping back and I have to roll it to the front... Any idea what's wrong??
Since changing grips on my Harley 2015 dyna street Bob it died when idling n. But there’s no way to adjust the idle that I know of. Please please help
@Dynachop420

just follow the video adjust your cables correctly and it should be fine
So a throttle by wire cannot be adjusted?
In theory if I have a veeery touchy throttle, could I adjust it like this to make it less touchy?
Now if I knew how to get the right slack in my lines that I take off to the moon when I hit a bump!
Guess the Dyno numbers from MMI are 💩 then. Was looking forward to a head to head comparison.
what is that nob with the spring between the throttle cables do?

That’s the resistance you get on the throttle sleeve pull. Makes it easier or harder to rotate the sleeve

As Nightingale said, sometimes people use it as cruise control, but that's not right to do either.
Where’s part 2 of the big bore kit!!!!
Are you going to bike week
Hoyaaaah !!! Fix it !!! 🤣
Chris doesn't look old enough to have been a tech for 24 years. I believe. Y 2020 Roadglide is ride by wire but thanks for the tip. Who knows I might need that one day.

2 years late, but no way that kid has been a master Cert for 24 yrs,Haha, Unless that's dealer years, like dogs to humans, Peace fr FL
I’m enjoying Blockheads blockhead build Blockhead.
Id trust this but not all the way. I own the manual and theres still a couple more steps but thats for everyone else to figure out 😉
What the hell does that wheel in between the two throttle cables do? Right where the cables meet the handlebar.
@tylerbarnes4806

"Cruise control" It just locks the throttle in place.
A little too quick for me. I’m new to motorbikes and have a 883. Could he show us again but a little slower please.
omg. honestly didn't know that. lmao
I went out to my garage and checked.
Becareful with the adjustment, you still need to have the "snap back" with the throttle.
@rebel_ltz

It doesn't come from this adjustment.
4 minutes early 😲😲😲
3 God damn years I been riding this bike with misadjusted cables
Looks like I might win more races by making their throttle open less
🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Video would be better if the person holding the camera was not talking. I only want to hear the mechanic. Skip to 1:00
I don’t think 10 years old counts for master tech years. He’s like 35 the most
Ok, I get what’s going on and that he fixed it by adjusting the cables, but I still don’t get how he did it?

Honestly he didn’t do a very good job of explaining exactly what what he was doing to what cable and what adjusting the cables was doing. People seem to forget that not everyone knows what they know
@robbyclark6915

I’ve adjusted those cables a couple of times now and if you don’t get it right you can lose the tension on the throttle cable and the little ball end can fall right off while you’re riding! Don’t ask me how I know……I just know. You actually don’t want that return cable too tight. That’s what I was doing wrong. Trying to get lots of tension on it to pull the intake closed was my mistake.

Hey did you guys figure out the step by step on how to adjust your throttle cables to make sure your throttle body opens 100%? I'm so confused after watching this video cuz he didn't explain at all what he was doing and which way and why and I've watched it over and over. Id appreciate it so much if someone can walk me through the steps on this.
@Dynachop420

back the return cable all the way out then adjust the other cable until it opens the butterfly all the way the adjust the return cable to tighten up the slack but not too tight you want a little slack
My Harley is carbureted. So I need that shit wide open!
@osvaldogarcia1984
2 жыл бұрын
Is it the same with a mikuni carbs?
@phabloagr
2 жыл бұрын
@@osvaldogarcia1984 don’t know what is that lol
Also, if you have cruise control and you tighten the idle cable (return cable, whatever) too tight, it will cause the roll off switch to constantly engage and render your cruise control inoperable. Then you go to Harley and spend thousands of dollars for nothing until you come home and loosen up the idle cable yourself. Then your cruise control is operable again. Isn't that a nice story? And I lived happily ever after less thousands of diagnostic dollars paid and wasted because they couldn't get it to work. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
There is some meat left near your nose area for your permanent ink map of happiness
Terrible explanation! Youre still the shiz though, block!
These instructions are very unclear 😒
that was terrible video
Horrible tutorial
