Well I finally became a Patreon supporter as well. I have a great time watching your adventures and seeing the progression of the builds of Goldzilla and now Sportzilla. Between you and Chris explaining in detail the different challenges you’ve faced in theses, builds I’ve been able to kind of keep my poor tired ‘02 Low Rider limping along. Thanks so much for continuing to do what you guys are doing!! John

My Sportster is carbureted, so similar, but not quite. It must be an EFI issue, but definitely will check the full range of motion again. Now I have had them just a bit too tight, makes it tough on the hands. Dumb question as I never have had an EFI bike, but I wonder why they aren't all throttle by wire

I’ve adjusted those cables a couple of times now and if you don’t get it right you can lose the tension on the throttle cable and the little ball end can fall right off while you’re riding! Don’t ask me how I know……I just know. You actually don’t want that return cable too tight. That’s what I was doing wrong. Trying to get lots of tension on it to pull the intake closed was my mistake.

Also, if you have cruise control and you tighten the idle cable (return cable, whatever) too tight, it will cause the roll off switch to constantly engage and render your cruise control inoperable. Then you go to Harley and spend thousands of dollars for nothing until you come home and loosen up the idle cable yourself. Then your cruise control is operable again. Isn't that a nice story? And I lived happily ever after less thousands of diagnostic dollars paid and wasted because they couldn't get it to work. Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
