Correct. Cut the baffles out, cleaned up and spray painted the ends with heat resistant spray paint. Good choice on buying the VRod. Awesome bike!

To be honest the unmodified sounds a lot better with a least a deeper tone the modified sounds loud . tiny and cheap sounding .. i have the same bike and pipes and thought about doing that myself and with a little research and you tube videos of others I'm glad i didn't change anything ..

EuroVrod, I have a set of the same Screamin' Eagle slip ons. I started to modify them myself and after cutting the first one realized that it isn't anything like the stock muffler (go figure). There doesn't seem to be an 'inner baffle' that you can remove, do you just gut the whole pipe and remove all the baffling, packing material and all? I'm afraid I might have ruined my pipes. Essentially I have no alternative now but to turn them into a straight pipe (which seems like what I've already done. So far the I've cut both ends as if I were vmod'ing a stock pipe, pulled out the packing material. The only thing left inside the pipe that I can tell is what looks like an inner baffle. Can you give me any advice?

+Dustin Taylor As far as I remember, the SE pipes had a lot of loose baffling material inside, which the standard pipes don't have. Once you remove that stuff, clean up the ends, you are good to go. I would re-map, or install a Power Commander to re-calibrate the air/fuel ratio. You will feel an increase in sound and power.

+Dustin Taylor Big end is fine. I remember there was a metal tube in some of them, which you can drill out from the small end, but don't have to. Apparently, there where different types of these SE pipes on the market.

Did you have to cut the baffels out? I'm looking at buying a vrod with the screaming eagle set on there and that's going to be the first change? Thanks.. Sound great.. Sound like a TAB system..

The pipes are part of a "Tuned System", ripping the guts out is going impact the power and tuning... so you need to remap to get the system back in "tune". I know several people that did the "rip and go" without remapping and had power issues, back-firing, hard starts, stalling... (sigh) A lot of research and testing went into making these (original) pipes work efficiently along the whole power curve...
