@@SportyRider Higher octane does not influence MPG meaningfully. Octane is not a measurement of energy. It's a measurement of knock proofing. If you've ever experienced better MPG on high octane gas that's either because you compared ethanol free to E5 or E10, or you didn't fill the tank consistently to the same level, or you just had more beneficial weather conditions / driving conditions. Those all play a much, much bigger factor in fuel economy compared to gas quality. 89 ethanol free is pretty much gonna give you perfect mileage compared to all other fuels. You have to of course make sure you get high enough octane for your engine, but other than that it only costs more for no benefit. Some high octane fuels actually contain less energy per gallon because they consists of a lot of knock retardant additives which are less energy dense than normal fuels. High octane fuel isn't for making your 87 octane rated bike perform better in any way. It's for bikes that can't run well on 87-89
I have the 131 on my 2018 Heritage. I went with the kit which has the 517 cam. I also did the S&S Superstreet 2 into 1. Upgraded the AC to the Harley Extreme. Also added the feuling vent for the oil. I am sitting at 140/143. Very happy and it is in that mid range where i ride. My mileage is at 42 MPG. hardly any change. Reliability is something i was shooting for too. I think the compression is now 10.7:1. it is phenomenal in acceleration. Dealer installed. i support my dealer.

Your first fill up was about 1/2 a mile from my house. I always watch for you around Orlando Harley South. 30 MPG isn't too bag for that big motor. Stay safe.
Keep riding it like it wants to be ridden! Gorgeous day in Florida ☀️ looked like the perfect ride
Haven't been able to ride here in Iowa for awhile now and got a lot more time before we can. This video made me pumped for the summer

I'm so happy you actually RIP that bike. It's nice seeing the power first hand! The worse fuel mileage you get the more fun you are having ☺️
All I can think about while watching this is how jealous I am for the weather! 🤣
I've owned 5 Harleys since the 70s, sir ...each one got about 30 mpg
Yeah, Science! Cool, looking forward to more 131 vids!
Makes me appreciate my Sportster 1200’s mileage. I never ride slow per say. I always squirt away from a stop too. Riding mileage minded I average 49.6mpg, 43mpg in fun mode ( drag race launches & 80mph+ cruising).
Awesome video
Tree man here. Oh yeah so relaxing. Can watch that badass 131 run. And you are right it does just want to run. Love's to run. Wide open . I also have a 131 ci.
Man that bike sounds f n amazing
Well that’s about what I get on the ‘02 FXDL with the Twin Cam 88. I commute 27 miles one way from southern Palm Beach to Ft. Lauderdale every day. I-95 Mad Max kinda riding experiences! Well nothing like the nut jobs on I-4 but similar. Good stuff Block. Looking forward to the tear down to see the piston domes! Oh I got my eye on the ‘21 Midnight Crimson FXLRS. Time to beef up my stables. I hope my Dyna will still love me.....
Good stuff!
I'm so glad you're doing 4k now haha.

I have a 128cu in Stage IV on my ‘19 FXLR with a HD Tuner, all the add-ons are Screaming Eagle. Best mpg I got is around 40 mpg if I’m easy on the throttle, worst is around 28 mpg, using 91 octane with ethanol and a touch of marvel mystery oil in the gas to off set the ethanol issues. It is an awesome machine.
30 mpg for that beast is pretty freaking awesome.

Where do you find those octane boosters. Typically I'd use Lucas in my rigs but that size is pretty slick for motorcycles. Looking to pick some up once I get my slim back in the street. Love your videos Block. What do you think about bucket hats with your logo on them. I think it would be pretty dope. Looking for a new dope bucket hat myself. Looking forward to the next video.

Thanks for the information. Now I'm trying to decide if I should go for Stage II or Stage IV 131ci for my 2019 FLHCS. Gas mileage.
great music play list
I ride an old 88" 1982 shovel, S&S stroker flywheels, S&S 519 cam, geared tall for the slab, just got back from a 1,100 mile trip with the wife on the back and all our camping gear, calculated after trip, 48 mpg.

hey you were in my neck of the woods!! lol Sanford!!!
I'm so jealous of your gas pump nozzles in florida. In california we have these stupid suction/vacuum seal nozzles that make it a huge pain to put gas into motorcycles
I wish you would post a video of a ride with no talking and no music for those of us that aren't fortunate enough to live where it's warm enough to ride. I would watch it over and over to get my fill of Harley music.

Hey bro I know this bike is bored out but what was the stock frame / model before you went in and did what you did with it? Love your content brotha!
So what would be the estimated mpg if used regular 91 unleaded?
I get 27mpg on my Vrod and it’s still running hella lean on it’s stock tune 😅! Can’t wait to get 90 miles to the tank when I tune it up! Bikes R fun!
That intake close isnt too horrible at 44° abdc, my dyna twin cam 124" has a cam with a 58° intake close so the mileage isnt the greatest but it made 161hp.
great video..but iv got a question. i actually just bought the rokform mount and phone case, but my dumb ass bought the wrong case bc i just got a new phone and some how forgot..so i returned it and havent bought a new one yet. that adapter would save me 50$..so my question is for someone that cant pay and replace my phone would you trust that adhesive to hold on a 12 hour trip?
My XS750 dropped from 50mpg to 30, with low restriction air filters and Kerker Headers, my guess. I switched to reserve, miscalculated, and ran out of gas, had to push it two miles; never forgot that.
I have the 2020 Low Rider S without any motor mods and have done this same calculation several times. I spend most of my riding time out on highways and achieve 43-54 mpg.
Yo @Blockhead we are similar in height and I am trying to decide on the 11 or 13 in Memphis shades shield for my fairing what do you recommend? Also vented or not vented?
Ohw snap... Thst is what my Dyna used to run when i bought it. Worked on it for several months. Got it up too 47mpg.(stage one) Was so happy all that hard work paid off. Only to have a lady run a stop sign and Total my bike 300 miles after the work was done. Fml. When i'm all healed up it's m8 softail time i gues.

Hey Blockhead, how did the Plugfones integrate with your helmet setup, esp, the microphone?
What octane boosters are you running I'd like to find some of those little bottles. I'm running the 131 in my 2019 road king special and carry around a big bottle
Now you should do a Smiles per gallon test.

I can’t believe no one’s asked this yet, but what octane booster do you use? Love the channel man!
Hey block have you ever ran 91 octane? If so what’s the difference from 89 to 91 cause I run 91 and would want the better of two for sure

I have the same bike mostly stock and get mixed riding around 45-47. I’d say 30 isn’t bad itself but 25+% loss sounds worse. I wouldn’t want it as my main ride or commuter but at least you have a 5 gallon tank. My BMW GSA pig gets 50-52 and I’ve gotten 405 miles on a single tank once LOL. Thanks for sharing though, great info.
Hey man, I saw your bike from Motonosity and I think your bike is awesome. Edit: I thought I'll just put it in one comment to keep it neat. I realized you were topping up with race gas, What is the compression ratio of this bike?

Damn... 30, here I've been considering the 131 for my fxdr but don't want to drop that much economy
What’s that app for the ethanol gas
Your phone mount you get it through Amazon?,
Yo have you taken your soft tail on the drag strip yet to get your quarter mile time? I haven't really seen anything with a 131 race on our local strip yet.

Not yet!
Just FYI, easy hiway cruising at mostly legal speeds with my new S&S V96 package with a Super E returned 45.3 mpg.
Stock crossover pipe decatted with SE slip ons. You’ll lose sound and top end but you’ll move the power band to the left and will be a much more enjoyable mid range ripper. IMHO of course.
Fuelly app/website is a great tool
Wow that is a huge drop.
Personally, on that bike I think the 131 fits. I’d probably like a second more long haul focused bike before slapping a 131 in something 😂 Then again while I dig the power, I’m more of a mile eater over getting my shortest quarter mile. Sounds mean though!
Sanford! Go to the Barn!
517 cam on my 128cu streetBob is about 33mpg. I live in a hilly area though.
That Mario sound though!
Catching it at 131 views!🤘😎🔥
Looks cool, funny my Tri/Glide using 93 octane as it’s easy to find in Maryland area. I get of driving easy and mostly back roads 42.5mpg and standard with highway runs to and back from work 39mpg 114 enjoying the video’s. If you are ever in Maryland give me a hay, it would be nice to ride with you. If I’m in Florida next summer I’ll try to get a ride with you. Dark Dave’s Shop on KZread.
What foot pegs are you running?
what octane tune are you using?
Question. How come you don't run 91 ethanol free? When I purchased my 2021 Harley Fat Bob 114 I was told by Harley dealership not to run anything but 91 ethanol free. Am I missing something or what?
Are you listening to music with plugfones or sena, I’m confused.
Living in Erie PA, there's a lot of stations with 90-91 ethanol free. The problem is that its not cost effective for constant riding, especially when I can get 93 for less. I would want 93 for city, hwy 89 is probably ok.
What brand sissybar is that?
Do you have an EZ Pass on your bike for tolls? If so, where do you put it.
@BlockheadMoto
3 жыл бұрын
I have a SunPass account and my plate is registered to it, so it's toll-by-plate, no transponder needed.
Hey blockhead, I just bought the 131 kit and am having it installed. I currently have the TBR turnout stage 1 on my 2021 low rider s. Did you have any issues with the clutch? Should I also just have them install a performance clutch? Or did you just keep that stock?

Just out of curiosity. What's the purpose of using octane booster with 89 instead of using 93 octane, and or using 93 octane plus the octane booster?
@MyDyerMaker

I think he's limited to using the highest octane gas available without ethanol.

It gets worse the colder it is and I am running a HD Smart Auto Tune as well. 45 F / 7 C or less, it just drinks gas like a college frat boy funneling a keg.
