    I just got one. For the price it is amazing! Thankfully my tone and volume knobs work fine.

    It's a great bass. I changed the pick up to a higher output one but the stock is good too.

    The volume and tone pots is a little factory mistake. I'm afraid they used a LINEAR taper pot instead of an audio taper pot for the volume. Very easy fix. Just get a 250kOhm audio taper pot from your local electronics shop and swap it out. As far as the tone knob goes. Check if it's a 250kOhm linear taper pot, and change the capacitor to a 0,047uF one. The larger the value of the capacitor the darker the tone can get. Cheers!

    Vincent Koster Thanks for taking the time to comment Vincent. In the end I bought an after market wiring harness, which I need to make time to install, that should fix it! :)

    @@PaulWilliamGibson I bought one of these from thomann last year after watching your review. After 6 months finally got round to removing the pickguard and found that the wood is blistered / dimpled around where the screws held it down. Quite disappointed but only noticeable up close. I already own a precision bass with a rosewood neck (always loved the classic warm tone sound like a double bass, hands down you can't beat it!) but had difficulty on E string, as i'm sure the neck is ever so slightly thicker so thinking of sanding it down. I've always had trouble on frets 1 and 3 of bottom E as i have small, skinny hands.

    Mine did not come with hi mass bridge, slightly thicker bent steel with saddle height adjustment grooves in metal ,I buffed the neck with rubbing compound to a semi gloss finish and replaced the tone capacitor supertech mpt .047mfd, works for me love it and sounds great.

    Rob Arcarola just search for a 51 Precision scratchplate. They are available, I found them to be prohibitively expensive (eg I’m reluctant to buy a £65 scratchplate on a £100-ish bass).

    Yes it does sounds like the usual P bass sound, for an Harley Benton is cool but I do like Squier basses a little better though.

    Is the pickguard smooth or sharped? The unboxing shows some irregularities on the borders of the shape..that's the reason I haven't ordered yet :)

    What is “photo flame finish”?

  • @PaulWilliamGibson

    @PaulWilliamGibson

    5 жыл бұрын

    manonbassguitar it’s a photo of a wood grain pattern, printed on paper or similar, and literally stuck on the face of the wood, before lacquering. Fender used to do it a lot in the 90s.

  • @cessrcd

    @cessrcd

    I would say that isn’t a foto finish. That would add to the cost, decent grain on basswood is pretty much like that anyway

    Basswood is perfect for a bass, neutral wood, sustainable and Ernie ball use it on their Sterling range, and I gig one of those and it punches faces👍
