HARDtalk with George Michael (Part 1/3)

Tim Sebastian can interview George anytime as far as we are concerned! He brings out the best in George, giving him no time to come up with some lame soundbites, forcing him to show more of himself. And he does! Brilliant and astute interview. Well done both, Tim and George!
Posting it here because we couldn't find it on BBCWorld's Channel, unfortunately.

YOU ARW SO RIGHT. WHEN YOU HAVE PEOPLE LIKE GEORGE THAT SPEAK THE TRUTH, THEN PEOPLE DONT LIKE THEM. GEORGE WAS A VERY PROUD MUSICIAN, HE WASNT SUPPOSE TO HAVE ANY SENSE IN ANYTHING OTHER THAN SINGING, AND THEY HAD GEORGE MICHEAL MESSED UP. HE WAS AN VERY INTELLIGENT AND VERY SMART MAN.

So here's George Michael who is intelligent, a global super star, worth multi millions and has lost a court case with Sony because he no longer wants to (needs to) go on tour and promote his music and the jerno says, "why Iraq, is it because it's fashionable?" And then says to him (unbelievable) "are you just promoting your new album?" I can't watch anymore. How George stayed so calm and composed is beyond me, i'd of punched him full on in the face, the knob!

I don't recall George Michael ever "coming up with some lame soundbites" during an interview. If anything, George was very honest, and at times too honest for his own good as the interviewer or the news media then turned that honesty against him. I find Tim Sebastian overly contentious and argumentative as he continuously interrupted George.

It was one of the first things that helped me understand how intelligent, eloquent, thoughtful, gracious and principled George Michael was, and just what a fantastic human being he was. I appreciate your charitable take on the interviewer. I know it’s part of the schtik...but I really find it awful. As you say though, it gave George Michael the opportunity to demonstrate his acuity and grace in responding to this badgering.

its a stupid assumption that he is speaking out politically for publicity. He is one of Britain's and Europe's top superstar.

Such a shame that sex is almost like logo of George Michael humiliating him. What about other aspects of life ,what about other parts of body for exemple head full of wise thoughts.

Magdalena Mar I realize that you wrote this remark 4 years ago... therefore I'll respectfully apologize for my tardiness to the party... I'm only just now running across...what could've easily been a comment of mine... for the sole reason that I feel EXACTLY the same way! I have actually said and written very close to your words... and both of us have spoken nothing but truth... unfortunately it's even more so truth since he left for Heaven... They won't introduce him without somehow inflicting their own slice of a thug and bully mentality... it's infuriating to me...and it's a shame...a shame to the media who I feel are solely to blame for us not having him with us now... I say that because he very possibly may not have kicked his own ass with some of the chemical choices that he did had they shown him much deserved respect... but damn... who wouldn't wish to escape from the nightmare they were to him... I blame my country before anyone or anything else...I love my country but as an American I am and forever will be ashamed... angry... and now... unforgiving. (I add 'now unforgiving ' given the fact that they waited too long... and now it's too damn late to apologize to this amazing gentleman). Unforgiving of the mean and hateful manner in which She treated this sweet sweet gentle and generous soul... Who, from all and obvious indication, simply wanted to come here in peace... and blissfully in his usual spectacular fashion entertain those of us who adored and appreciated him and the music the soul of that man wanted to give us. Way to go getting it press before the planet was forced to face our very own Greek tragedy... it is my hope that he did realize that he was loved by so many. *As a footnote for any of the jack-ass media who is now... in the past... or has always played your part in this man's uncalled for embarrassment and anguish...My name is Velda...a straight white woman... who'd like nothing more than to kick your ass. *
