I have been watching your older videos. When I watched the video when Joe lost his wedding ring I subscribed. I live in Texas United States. I have been around offshore boats most of my life. I have never seen anyone work so hard to find a wedding ring. That's when I subscribed. When you were painting your boat why were you using such small paint brushes and rollers? When I paint my 32 ft cabin cruiser I use the biggest brush I can find. But anyway y'all did a fantastic job. When I first started watching narrow boats I thought they were the dumbest thing I ever saw. And that was about 4 years ago. The more watched I got hooked. Lol I've been watching your recent videos. Waiting for more. You two have a nice day on the canal. 😊

The only job i can compared this to was cutting out all the seized bushes on my honda s2000, changing them and then putting it all back together. Every single bolt needed cutting out and every bush burnt out. It took me about 20 hours over a few days off work and by the midway point i was completely broken🤣 Amazing job by the both of you. I'm not sure i would of gone all the way back to bare metal but at least you can say you've done a proper job.

Hi. Love the boat. Pplease accept a word of warning. The angle grimder is probably by far, one of the most dangerous tools anyone can use, eve. In expert hands. Always keep this tool in front of the body, not to the side as you did in your video. It can jump without warning and the rwsult can be disasterous. Also do not ever use it with the trigfer locked in the on position, asking for trouble if you have a misshap. Always grip it well with both hands and pay attention at all times till the wheel has stopped turning. Good luck with the boat. It is something I would love to do. Maybe in the future. Regards Jack from Ireland

Be careful sanding the vactan, it’ll bubble like an old wool jumper and if you break the surface it’s like peeling sunburn, I found better to just paint straight over it and sand out that layer of paint, good luck. If I had to do mine again I’d definitely use fertan (like I did inside the boat, under the spray foam) best of luck

Been there, done that. All the prep is super exhausting, getting sick from all the dust, even though you are wearing a good quality mask. God bless you two!

phwoor the chimney sweep look really suits Danni. black rust is what you get on old tools and carbon steel knives which helps protect the steel underneath. painting the boat with vinegar would do that. I admire your effort. I'd be inclined to blast it clean and have frosted glass until I changed the windows.

Are you sure its a cold? and not due to irritants blown up by your sanding down? If you have a sore throat, one of the best cures/helps is to gargle with soluble aspirin. This anaethsatises the throat and helps alleviate headaches when you swallow it. ( tcp or salt are great to gargle, but if swallowed cause vomitting) if really bad then honey&lemon can help.

I thought Vactan contained latex as a sealant, so it doesn't require painting? Anyways converters are phosphoric acid based because the salt they create isn't water soluble. Base (rust) + Acid (eater/converter) > Salt + Water That could be why you're finding rust under your converter, but if there's good adhesion so the atmosphere is sealed out I wouldn't worry too much. Any acid will do to remove rust, citric is quite a popular choice. Screwfix do a heavy duty descaler that's pretty powerful & cheap too.

If the old paint (dark green on the side) still has good adhesion, you can just sand and recoat. Wire wheel would probably be effective on the hand rail.

Those expressions on the both of you at 20:00m are very representative for the ordeal you are both going through, oh boy! Dropping the hoover is just a small setback, not that dramatic, actually ;-) Thank you for filming all of it.

Some times the extra expense of sand blasting the boat is be justified, primed straight away after the blasting is finished and ready to start the painting, plus sand blasting gives a much better surface for the paint to adhere to.
