Hi BA! It's Ilya Naishuller, the director. Thanks for making this, I really enjoyed watching your reaction!

No way, the legend himself! Thank you my bro, loved this movie and Nobody (which I also reacted to!). If you ever need an extra for someone to shoot in the head in future I'm there lol. Keep making awesome movies. Also hit me up on twitter if you've ever got the spare time for a channel interview @RespekBA!

Holy shit, thank you for making the movie! It's one of my favorites of the last decade or so. Really original way of doing an action movie and as an avid gamer for over 40 years, I can't help but feel like I'm sorta playing an FPS game when watching, except this one has Sharlto Copley in it....lol Uh, any news on a continuation at all, I know you've said over the years a sequel is unlikely, but one can still hope right? Maybe a comic series or web shots kind of thing? I feel like Hardcore Henry, Dredd and Upgrade were all amazing action movies with amazing styles that audiences either just didn't get or the movie came out at the wrong time. :(

The punchline for "What's red and bad for your teeth" was supposed to be "a brick", but I've heard that joke also with the punchline "a tractor"

I watched this movie in theatres with a friend. It is such an underrated and fun experience once ur eyes get used to the 1st person perspective.

movies have RARELY kept me this engaged the literal ENTIRE time, it’s absolutely amazing
The stunts where it looks so convincing that it is just a camera strapped to a guy were filmed by strapping a camera to a guy and performing the stunts. This movie is insane.
In Cocaine Jimmy's drawer when Henry grabs the guns, you can see Jimmy's mask used in Payday 2. As well as seeing posters for the game in the movie. Jimmy was a playable character in that game and it was an AMAZING tie in to see.

Nice, my specialty in PD2 was a stealth solo bank heist on Overkill getting every deposit box and ATM with a silenced pistol and a saw hahah.
Seeing that Payday mask in Coke head Jimmy's drawer as a 16 year old was SO HYPE amongst my friend group. This movie is a masterpiece.
This movie surprised me so much. He is also a character in the Payday series

Oh nice, I've never even noticed cause I always played as John Wick! 🤣
The lady at 13:46 that got clotheslined on the escalator was an extra who missed her mark. When the stunt guy stopped to see if she was ok she immediately said "did you get the shot ok?" so they kept her in the movie. Also, I can confirm that 21:40 is really what it looks like while a horse is bucking you off.

I also think that keeping that shot in there is a nice character building moment for Henry - he cares if some random woman he knocked over is OK, even though he's chasing a bad guy @@safespacebear

I never knew that but that's why the fall looked so real and brutal because it was.
russians are known for long shots, they were first to make full movie in one shot back in 2002 Russian Ark, it was revolutionary, highly recommend if you into imperialist russia era. Also this director directed weekend song video "false alarm" of of best pov video clips ever.

Nice I'll add that to the list for future reactions.
Thanks so much for the reaction! I honestly can't believe there are so many reactors on KZread, yet so few reactions to Hardcore Henry. Like, I think there's literally more reactions to the trailer than there are for the movie, itself. And you said it... this is TOP TIER action. And that's the truth. I always list this as a really close 2nd place, right behind Fury Road on the list of greatest action movies EVER! Some of the best fight scenes, chase scenes, stunts, shootouts, kills... *sigh*. I mean, it's exhausting just thinking about it. But it's all done well, and yeah, it just kinda propels you through the whole experience in a way that lesser action movies just can't pull off so relentlessly, while staying interesting. Hardcore Henry does it all, and nails it, like a text-book example of how to do non-stop action properly... see also, Fury Road.
@BAReactions
Жыл бұрын
Yeah I love fury Road, for me action is always about the combat choreography, so my GOAT action movies are the raid and john wick, but for just straight up action movies like fury Road and terminator 2 are incredible! Nobody and hardcore Henry are like a beautiful mox of both worlds, with good fight choreography but also with action set pieces.

Preach brother its a rare hidden gem that many missed or couldnt handle cause it goes balls to the wall & the stunt work .my god the stunt work.
25:21 That's actually a PPSh-41, a Soviet weapon from World War 2. I imagine it was used to pay homage to the movie's Russian production roots but it's also a nice visual indicator that Jimmy doesn't have any particular allegiance to Western firearms when it comes to choosing his favored weaponry - Ian from Forgotten Weapons tested out both the Thompson and the PPSh-41 and seemed to lean toward the PPSh-41 because its higher continuous rate of fire made aiming easier during sustained shooting.

@@BAReactions yeah, it's kinda overpowered IRL to, because it's very stable and rapid - it's like spraying water with a hose, except it's bullies. In fact, it was too powerful, so another designer managed to make a very similar, but even more simplified(!) and reliable SMG with a lower firing rate (PPS-42/43), so it would not burn through ammo like crazy (since drum magazines were expensive, inconvenient and not that reliable).
Ilya Naishulier started his career as a music video director, maybe one of his most notable jobs that showed his skill of visual storytelling and style was for the song "Voyage" of "Leningrad" band. For me that might be one of the greatest music video ever.
Also Akan was born on the day Chernobly exploded and his mom was posioned with cyanide at the same time. He got his powers later in his life when he made a "super drug" and everyone else who took it died but he woke up in the hospital with his superpowers. There is a prequel comic that explains it all

Ah cool, thanks for the info!
I have no clue if it's canonical, but the villain got his powers a child from the Chernobyl disaster. It also explains why he coughs up blood every time he uses his powers
Actually if you interested after this film Naishuler directed movie "Nobody" (2021)

For some clarification at the end, Henry did intact listen to his heart. It said EZ.
thank god someone out here still remembers bullet storm
We somehow came across the trailer before it was released in theaters. My son, who was just discovering the glory of FPS was obsessed. We went and saw it in theaters three times! It was the first time we let our kid watch a film with adult content (strip club scene) but it was so well made we were like "We allow it".

This is a film I often come back too. If it was shot like a normal film it would be a pretty mid action film but the First Person Perspective makes its feel more thrilling and interesting. It could not have been easy but damn was it worth it.

I bought this movie. It's like a guilty pleasure. I Iove watching Sharlto Copley Go. It's just fun. I have seen the H Brothers logo on Asian films, a lot of big martial arts films. Hong Kong I think, but not sure.

How you feel about vampires? I wouldn’t normally watch or recommend a vampire movie but before Hardcore Henry was made there was a huge Russian film that rocked the film world, called Night Watch (2004 with several sequels after). You’ve probably heard of some of the director’s work since Night Watch (Wanted was soon after) but the reason the film was so big was for it’s big balls. Somewhat epic. It’s visually gorgeous but a bit hard to follow. There’s quite a complicated storyline that is interesting but a little too fantastical for me but still cool. But the visual effects are like nothing else and that alone makes it worth seeing. It’s creepy and suspenseful and heavily stylised. Great for creep month and great for anyone with an eye for film-making techniques.

Nice I've heard about night watch, it seems kinda like a combo of Blade and The Matrix but I've never actually checked it out.
FYI H Brothers are involved in some massive Kung Fu classics like Kung fu Hustle, The Forbidden Kingdom, Tai Chi Zero, Detective Dee series and more recently Paws of Fury.

Best part in this for me was the kitana bit And I think he got the telictentic powers originally was the twist was he had Jimmy's cloning technically and that wasn't actually him but in the final product it's never explained in the slightest.
