I have made this comment many times in the past on this channel - Jeff Chan is the real deal. He demonstrates that his techniques can be used in sparring and he is willing to spar anyone. But more importantly he remains humble and level headed and seldom makes negative comments against other fighters or styles.

I like this boy. He is quick, has a very good eye, good answers to almost everything that comes up. He is the best example of when you believe in yourself and don't give up on your dream!
I appreciate you being honest and giving credit to how hard the coach was training, as well as hard sparring etiquette. People can easily draw the wrong conclusion just watching sparring sometimes.

Coach Gio is a shoulder beast! This is a really good example of how to be economical when fatigued. Controlled exhaustion is really scary to face! A bit of breathing work and a few seconds down and they come back hard. Nice of you to acknowledge his fatigue but also really good that you kept it coming. Super respectful with epic control, a very fine line that you walk so well. Seeing that Aldi reusable bag in a lot of videos 😂 seems like every gym or dojo has one hanging around 😂. John has good energy. I actually love it when the sidelines are vocal, keeps you from being too much into your own head.

Great video man! You have a more bladed and wide stance for mma, changing it to muay thai to recieve the low kicks better and defend from it better is very hard, specialy when you are so used to your stance.

Any videos on touch sparring? The guys in the background for example. Watched pretty much all your videos but the pace that your class is going at seems perfect for our group. We always end up going too hard tho. Our coach is constantly telling us it’s not about winning, don’t worry about the other person, work on your own stuff, etc. Most of us are less than 1 year in and the pace always picks up even with him correcting us.

Hello Jeff! Wanted to get your professional opinion on this. Do you think I could get good enough at boxing to use it as self-defense if I don't spar at all? Also, do you usually exercise at night? I heard it is not reccomended, but the gym I am looking at only holds classes at night. Would love to hear your thoughts on this :)
@MMAShredded

@@MMAShredded I see, I am afraid of developing brain trauma in the future, hence the fear of sparring
@theKashConnoisseur
Ай бұрын
@@shinyfennecfox1421 What can be really effective is communicating with your sparring partners. If you agree to go light to the head and keep the heavy attacks to the body, you can still gain a lot of fight IQ without risking your brain. You do have to be picky with who you spar with, though. More experienced boxers will (in general) have better control, and vice versa. Also, some people have an ego even in sparring, and feel like they need to "win", which can be less than ideal. But it's OK to not spar with someone you don't feel safe in the ring with. Your coaches (if they spar still) and more experienced students are usually a good option.

Maybe lay off the training for a few weeks? I trained muay thai 4 years, never really encountered such stuff my self, rolled my ankle but thats about it of foot injurys.
@christopherburns6403
2 ай бұрын
Whenever I get those injuries I tape up my feet or toes however I need to keep them together or if it’s a bad one I’ll wear boxing shoes for awhile and train mainly clinch/boxing so I’m not kicking people with them. Also as you train more those things happen less cause your feet adapt.

The best way to heal is just rest! Try not to kick until they heal fully. It is tough but necessary to rest. Or else you will keep hurting it and takes longer to heal!

It's pretty useful to practice not quitting in the ring, to practice defense, to practice in-ring recovery. As long as your sparring partner isn't trying to shut your lights out, it's not doing any real harm, either.

Yep absolutely no reason to be sparring like this apart from ego…i mean this guy doesn’t even fight anymore and yet he spars like he’s fighting for a world title in those spars, by now most people know this kind of sparring is stupid and doesn’t benefit you at all
Except for the constant distraction from John the cameraman's unnecessary comments (the "Ouweee's" are really ANNOYING, and distract from the otherwise great atmosphere of this training session), this is yet another outstanding example of Jeff's superb resiliency, flowing rolling technical style (with repeatedly effective combinations), and uncanny way to adapt to and even dominate his opponent. GREAT job Jeff, superb combinations, and awesome front stop kicks...BRAVO!
