It's a cheap tool that works alright if you don't treat it like a high dollar unit. I'm on my second one. The first one the brass bushing got destroyed by a buddy over working it. Both needed shimming to get the notch centered in the tube. I also found using an 1/8" smaller hole saw will give you a tighter fit.

great review! I drill sch. 40, and 10 for work and have found the Lenox hole saws to run smoother and last longer. Curious if you would see the same with notching.

I was going to buy one, then a buddy was like, you have an evo saw right? you can make notches with that. I was like really? I tried it and yes you can pretty easily. just have to do a little math and make 2 angled cuts. Still good to know this isnt bad though

Thanks, I will do a review of the bender, I have one and it’s on my list. I would not use it for building anything structural, it’s called the tube kinker for a reason, lol. I have not had great success with it. I used my buddy’s jd2 mandrel tube bender for the roll bar.

The HF unit is a PIPE bender, not a TUBE bender - that's why it kinks tube. There are plenty of reviews of it out there. The short is it 'sorta' works on tube but not great.

Seams like you do a lot of Tube Fabrication or at least more than the average person i’m a retired Woodworker and right now a fairly new and kind of a hot item is the Wen brand floor standing DrillPress i beleive it’s the least expensive one onAmazon and the reviews are fairly consistent of being a decent product for the money it actually is a adjustable Speed machine that achieves that by a dial to speed up or down the motor and it utilizes a CVT style set of Pulley that self adjust to get the RPms you need on a digital display right on the unit there are definitely sacrifices on this Unit to keeping their price low and of course you can Spend a great deal more money on Higher Quality machines you might need for a shop that Professionally Specializes in Tubing Fabrication but you appear to do one offs and nott a high amount of these chevknitvout i’m a firm beleiver in buying the right tool or tools for the job

Hey there, you probably know this already, but if you put some cutting or reg. Oil on the teeth periodically while cutting. It will be cooler and save your teeth on your hole saws. Just a little food for thought 👍

@user713Blvd WD-40 works well, I use that at work/on the job, but at home I use a little oiler with 5w/30 in it. It's a little thick and sticks to the hole-saw at my drill press.

I need a tube notcher to cut an offset hole out of a 1 inch OD x .065 wall 4130 tube It does not look this notcher can do offset holes so I figured I would ask if anyone knows of an off-the-self notcher that can do offset holes? It seems like IF I made a couple spacer plates on the pipe clamp side that would get me what I need but I'm trying to avoid that. Does anyone know if there is an off-the-shelf notcher that can do offsets I dont see any in my searches? Thanks

I bought one of these many years ago and it was a piece of crap. It flexed too much while cutting and the saw and tube clamp was so far off center there was no way it would make a decent notch. I threw it in the corner and bought a JD Squared Notch Master. All good now.
