    That’s a great way to do those bends without having a very expensive bender. Nice that you showed how to generate the radius you needed. With expensive tube benders you need the radius dies required and they too are expensive. My only comment would be to have an air over hydraulic cylinder. Sure saves time and effort. BTW Harbor Freight I believe makes a nice knob to open the valve. I made my own before I found out you can buy them. However being a toolmaker it was just another fun little project. Great Video though !

    great video. I have been thinking about cutting a viewing port so I can more easily measure the angle of my bend. Don't think it will compromise the strength of the bender. What do you think?

  • @danatavares2038
    @danatavares2038 Жыл бұрын

    Can this method be used for a shallow arc? Would it be the same number of pumps for each bend or would the throw be different for each bend?

  • @watcherwatchmen7785

    For marking steel I like to sharpen the tip on a 3 point file with a grinder and make it into a scribe, then use the scribe to scratch the mark directly into the steel. Eliminates the problems with thick paint markers, which can lead to errors in your final product. I think the machining industry term is "tolerance stacking". If you've ever plotted multiple azimuths on a map with a thick pencil line, all the differences add up. I learned from experience to use a mechanical pencil to save myself a lot of walking and/or getting lost. A lot of skills you learn overlap into other disciplines.

    My harbor freight bender leaks oil everywhere if I put it on its side, even though it has feet for that exact purpose, and the manual says it will do that and to NOT lay it dow. What happened? Is the new version worse?

  • @RightOnJonCrane

    @RightOnJonCrane

    Yes, mine leaks a little too! There is a modification that can be made by adding a tube inside. It makes it so the Jack can also be used upside down. Perhaps I’ll dig into it and make a video! 🙌
