Harbor Freight Doyle Electricians Insulated Screwdriver Set Review
Doyle 64861, these are okay screwdrivers but in my opinion are not very competitively priced because one of the screwdrivers is a weird #1 ECX driver which are just a waste of money. I also think there are units that are better visibility and better ergonomics for easily the same amount or even less money . .

That ecx is no waste of money, it's a electricians tool, for breakers receptacles ect it's the way to go. You can apply PLENTY of torque without slippage. A good tight connection is important to keep the wires and connections from getting hot and causing a fire
It fits the screws on receptacles exactly. They have a #1 Robertson rotated 45 degrees from the screws your looking at.
It's called an ECX screwdriver I bought the Milwaukee 11 n 1 because it had em, great bit if your an electrician. Most breakers use these type of fasteners also

The difference is the warranty. Milwaukee makes you send them to a repair facility with a return postage check, and if they agree it deserves warranty. Harbor freight.... Walk right in!

I bought the Milwaukee 11 in 1 screwdriver for the ECX bit. I also agree that if you’re doing electrical work it’s a big help. Outlet and switch terminals are so much easier to wire up. I’m interested in the Doyle now.

@joek of course, u can also use a flat or even phillips. Ecx just gives to a bit more grab when you're trying to get those connections goodntight
There are two ECX sizes #1 and #2. Obviously the #1 will be loose in a #2 ECX screw - not a design failure. It appears that Harbor Freight copied the bits in Milwaukee's 3 piece insulated screwdriver set. ECX screws are very common in US electrical work. Agree that for non electrical work, the ECX bit would be an odd one to include.
I like the ecx bit because they won't cam out. If you use a flat or phillips on that type of screw they are likely to cam out with the slightest diviation of angle. Imo square/robertson or that ecx bit is the only way to go when working in a live breaker panel. The last thing you want is slippage around other live wires. Just my opinion

You shouldn’t be working in a live breaker panel in the first place.

Like ECX too but too often doesn't fit the 6-32 box screws very well. Also the slotted blade makes it where the tip only seats the screw head in two positions. Try the Bosch P2R2 driver bits sometime. Phillips 2 and Robertson 2 combination without the slotted aspect. Fits four orientations with the screw head as opposed to only two which is faster. Also seems to work well with device terminal screws as well as the cheap wall box installation screws. They work well for me so far. Awaiting the arrival of a insulated Wiha Xeno screwdriver and their Xeno driver bits. If they are on par with all my other Wiha tools then they will probably become my go to, but they Bosch P2R2 bits have been better imo than the ECX bits. Still use ECX hand driver....well Ideals version of it anyway.
It's Dec. 2021 and I bought my Doyle set today. I de burred the tip of the ECX on a bench grinder wire wheel and it now fits everything I need it to (electrical purposes) !
Thanks for the video, great as always! I’m a fan of the ECX bit and might give this a try.
Have you ever checked out the Pittsburg ,7 piece insulated set? O purchased a set a couple of years ago. They seem to be of decent quality.
Thanks for the video! I've been wanting to get these. What's interesting is on the HF website the matching set of Doyle screwdrivers are supposed to have wire looping holes. My set does not. Are there wire loopers on these or on your your matching heavy duty set?
You've been reviewing many things, I've been on the verge of buying. Many thanks
The ECX drivers are awesome for electricians, in fact, they are the preferred tool, the screws are designed to use ECX drivers, not Roberts, straight, or Philips.
I dont think I can cut the power here I need to change an electrical outlet plate do you think I will be fine if I use my electrician's screw driver? thoughts please thank you
Man you know your screwdrivers. What's your thoughts on the new SK screwdrivers with the green handles?
It was great to finally see Tiny in your video as i am sure we have all been wanted to see. Power Torque tools for anyone interested are available at O Riley's auto parts.Love the demos hope to see more of Tiny if possible thanks
Thanks for posting. This informative video.
Great video man 👍👍👍
the gm power torque screw driver base on german brand you mentioned fails to list a link to buy these screw drivers it would help to list any links for products you mentioned.
This is a copy of the Milwaukee 3-piece set, which you can get for 20 bucks at Big Orange. I'm going to pick up the Doyle set and save about 8 bucks. I actually want one of these sets mainly for the ECX driver. Otherwise there are a bunch of 5 - 8 piece insulated sets you can get for 10 to 35 bucks, but they only come with the flats and phillips.
That ecx screwdriver is made for recepticals and light switches
Review the harbor freight composite ratchets please , seems like a very odd tool
The ecx screwdriver is the best ever on electrical devices and breakers
From what I understand the #1 Robertson tip in the combination is the best for switc and receptacles. From what you showed with the romex clamp it looks like a #2 cfombination would work.
Love the New Doyle electrician hand tools
My harbor freight didn't have any of those so I bought the Milwaukee ones which was a 3 pack, Lenox had a 2 pack.
Just grabbed the Pittsburgh variants. No word on how the guys like them. Love the composite ratchets for working around powered stuff though.

I just bought Doyle's have yet to try them
Heyyyyyyyyyy the kitty made it in! Woooooooooooooo!!! This set, for 12.00, is a alright deal. Btw, the music at the start makes me dothe cha cha. Thanks for the review
Can someone tell me where and when these would be applicable?
Tiny - the reluctant you tube star!!
Fyi not a cord grip romex connector or nm connector
the milwaukee set has the same ECX bit
Regarding your philipps/slotted screw, use Wiha's SL/PZ1 (#30711) and SL/PZ2 (#30712) screwdrivers, they'll do the trick.
You need a #2 ECX for that screw
No disrespect i somewhat understand your thinking but I feel almost entirely opposite. Those screws are the problem. They are supposed to work for multiple drivers but they ended up making it so you can strip out a screw and 3 different bits in the same go. I've been dying to find a driver that will fit those terrible screws. Honestly phillips is almost unusable on alot of them also. So really its flat, square, or something designed to fit well. That being said I'm going to try the klein ones first with high expectations they will fit better than Harbor freight bargains.
The ECX Driver is the best tool for electrical work. I wish I could buy just the ECX. Oh and no it's not a waste of money.
ECX is built for the electrical guys. The screws on connector in your video should not be handled by #1 ECX in the kit. #2 would be better. Most of the cases, only electrical guys need to have 1000V insulated screwdriver.
Why didn't they make that ECX bit with a small Roberson extending out some from the slotted one. Its flat, would be ten times stronger with a slotted and square drive that actually fits right down into the Roberson slot on the screw. Hope you know what i mean.
LOL. If I had a channel, my tabby would be right in the middle of it. As soon as I need to read a book, do something on the floor, or couch....there he is. My first thought on that specialty driver was "meh". I look at it as I'm paying a few more bucks for a driver I can't use.
I don't think I've seen such an uninformed opinion when it comes to ecx screwdrivers and their use before. Bravo
Crap Mul Stank Screwdrivers!!!
I can tell you that if that combination tip is like the Milwaukee insulated, it is useless
