Luxman 509x and Harbeth are a fantastic combo!

I build my own speakers (more than just one pair) my own design, and I design my crossovers. And this song is on my "reference album"! And my B&W 706s are my reference speakers and my Audiolab 6000A is my reference amp.

Top noch japan machines you have there sir but... one question. When you put the money on table for purchase this amp or your 590 have you compared with an accuphase? They are at same prices. Same country manufacture both top quality with different sound signatures. If you did what were the pros cons of each amp.

Nice video! What brand is the audio rack you have in the video? It looks strong enough to support the Luxman l509x

Hi I have the Harbeth HL5 40th with the ton trager stands at the moment I’m using a b&k components st 125.2 amp and I’m looking for an upgrade According to the USA importer of Harbeth they advise that the Harbeths sound better with an a/b amp I’m looking at pass labs and luxman for an intergrated option any advice please

I have the standard Harbeth SHL5+ with the Luxman 505uxii amplifier and the pairing is stunning. I tried an older model 550 class A Luxman but it did not sound good. The sound was powerful but too bloated, woolly and thick so the dealer allowed me to return it and take the 505 instead. Best move. I woudl definitely stick to class a/b amps with the Harbeths. I am now selling the 505 and am waiting for the 509x. Unfortunately it wont arrive till February or March next year so will have to use my old Rega brio in the interim.

Nice setup! what did you think about l590ax? thinking about getting one.

L590AX mk2 is absolute fantastic! I ditched my McIntosh MA9000 to get the Lux. Don't be fooled about the 30/60 W/ch 8/4 Ohm.

20年ぐらい前　ラックスマンのプリメイン使ってたんだが、やっぱりその時の印象（特徴）は変わってないですね。　 リズム系の曲となるとドラムベースの低音がワンテンポ遅れる感じ。モワッとしてネットリしてるというか　餅つきしてるみたいな音は似てる。

How does the Luxman 509x compare to the L-550AXII with Harbeth Speakers? I am thinking the Class A might sound better?

I've read accounts that state that the 509x is the better all-rounder. I'd assume that at low volumes the 550 will be better, and then at higher volumes the 509 will win with tighter bass and larger dynamics. I've seen others using this same combination with great success as well (509 and super 5). So if your room is big I'd definitely say go for the 509. I personally heard the 509x (with a different speaker) and it had bombastic power that filled a large room easily. If you're insistent on sticking with Class A you'd be better off with the 590AXII. The 550 is only 20w... I heard the Accuphase E650 with the Super 5 (Class A 30w) and it did sound amazing... but the volumes were kept rather low in the room.

Saw a video featuring a Harbeth designer recently stating that to use their speakers effectively your amp should have a minimum of 150 wpc, so they definitely are not designed to run with tube amps or Class A type amps.

Seow Lay, You are not alone. I can understand Harbeth gives a lot of pleasure to their owners, it is not the worst product on the market but, of course not a terrific sound.

wow...the bass😮is it overwhelming the rest of the music?...maybe just your track...is Harbeth M30 better sounding in a medium sized room?

Sound is bright for harbeth may be due to partnering kit.

While I agree there may be more to it, the 509x is a bit crisp compared to the Class A 590AX2 and most tube amps. I think it often sounds a little bright in videos as they fail to capture the midrange saturation and bass heft you hear in real life. I lean towards tubes and Class A amps, but I'm pretty happy with the 509x.

I prefer the kef ref.3 with luxman 509x

YOUR Room has too much reflection echo box

its annoys me (as someone looking for a new disc spinner) that Luxman are terrible a matching aesthetics and case shape across their ranges. They have absolutely no components that have the same casework, button arrangement and colour schemes. I have the 509X also, and theres almost no disc spinner that actually looks like its properly matches in their range.

Deaf acoustics. the amplifier is cool
