Happiest Birds in the World! Australian Magpies Playing
Үй жануарлары мен аңдар
Quite possibly the happiest birds in the world? What do you think? 😊
💟 All magpies seen in our clips have never been hand-raised or rescues. They've all been brought up in the wild by their real mummies and daddies. 🐧🐧

If I lived in Australia, I would literally get nothing done because I'd be playing with the magpies all day.

I try to get our magpies to play but despite my best efforts they are too timid.

Just be careful you don't play with the subspecies Killer Magpies. They look and usually behave very similar, but they can turn at any moment.
1:32 i love the way it just rolls over
I love when they roll over on the sides of their bodies with their little legs sticking out. They seen to enjoy doing this. They also like being upside down as shown in another video of the birds playing on laundry hung to dry. As enjoyable as this activity is, other birds find it just as enjoyable to peck at them in their vulnerable positions.
I love that you have given them a whole playground...
They play like young kids engaged with their toys and interactions.

The pride of Australia
There are lots of magpies where I live and I used to put the sprinkler on during hot days and they would come and play. It was hilarious watching them chasing the water stream and pushing each other out of the way . Pity I cant do it any more because of water restrictions but I leave a big container of water for them and they take turns bathing in it and splashing it everywhere I have to fill it several times a day.

If you buy a rain water storage tank and a small compressor you can still enjoy those fun time's.
I genuinely love the sound of the Magpies, particularly on a Sunday morning when I'm preparing Breakfast - you know that you are really home in Australia - we really do live in the best country on planet Earth.

I could watch this over and over again!
always amazes me how intelligent and wonderful birds are. thank you so so much for this footage! at 0:49 it looks like the magpie on the right has seen the magpie on the left spinning the smaller flower and tried to make the big one spin and they were so curious and adorable and I love them so much :””””))

La seule chose que je n'ai pas aimée dans votre commentaire, c'est le mot "footage"...
This is one of the most amazing animal behaviors I've ever seen, truly fantastic! They are exactly like small kids, unbelievable!
They are so 😊silly and naughty but very lovable.
omgosh this is adorable! And to think they're all wild birds just hanging out and having a fun time 🤣🤣 So cute!!

WTF means "omgosh" ???
that was so good,the juveniles were giving it back .
As the biggest baddest birds in town, they are never concerned for their safety.
That’s it! I’m moving to Australia!
They really do love toys
They are happy with their surroundings to have three eggs hatched around the same time. ❤
How does this not have more views? I'm obsessed
Je vous félicite de tout mon cœur !!!
So cute! I've never seen magpies playing with toys before ❤️
I’m envious. We have a magpie family in our neighbourhood at the moment with three youngsters. But they don’t play with us like this.

Me too! I like the video of hers of the birds playing on laundry hung up to dry on a clothesline. Some birds enjoy hanging upside on the sheets, but they can’t hang like that for long because other birds find it just as enjoyable to peck at them in their vulnerable positions. You can see it in this video too. The bird playing with the ball wants to roll around with it and the best is when they’re on their sides with their little legs showing. Almost as soon as they’re in that position another bird gets him.
I love their songs!
If you lived in Australia you would be very lucky to have them near your property. They can be very shy as well. I had some in my back yard and occasionally gave them some meat, some would take it from my hand. Trouble is they poo all over the garden furniture.
Funny how the parents don’t like the youngsters having too much fun and teach them for awareness and fight with them to toughen them up for the dangerous wilderness i have maggie families come every spring so intelligent and beautiful birds
Ernie is there. Where's big bird. They love to play. Lots of happy singing.
I love magpies
I watch this and I can't help but see them as tiny dinosaurs murdering stuff-- er I mean playing around and honestly that makes it so much better for me lol
Precious moments :-)
They're just like kids fighting over toys. Lol. 😅
These guys are the silly panda of the bird world!!
Great ! I Love how crow birds troll each other for fun. 🤣
All I see are just cats with wings
I hope your doing well because this really made my day .x
Sweet birds❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
They are playing like cats! But they are much more adorable. For me at least💗
How wonderful, I am so happy to have found your channel. Thank you Magpie Whisperer❤️🙏

Astounding.
They are so hilarious to watch
They're like the boxer dogs of birds.
Hmmmmmm , these birds love you thats for sure , you are there best friend . To be honest i envy you .
I love this Magpie,I wonder if they have a language? After the video it is easier to make friend with a Magpie then with a crow.
That is adorable
😁😁😁Magpie fun park!!!!
i just love the calls from maggies. so distinct and uniquely australian. more fun than a kookkaburra laugh.

The most playful & intelligent ‘idiots’ everrrr... Our British Rooks and Magpies would never match this breed... you’re so lucky to have your own special Magpie x. kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6OVp6SbZKy0ZLQ.html

1:32 noooo don't gang up on him like that!
Hello I have hard a lot about you. I'm a bit jealous, if I'm honest. You get to experience such close relationships with these birds Magpies are one of my favourite Aussie birds. I know they often get bad wrap, especially around breeding season. But they are generally lovely birds. I have a few resident Magpies up at the local Tennis Courts where I work of a Sunday morning. The the other day I saw some behaviour I'm curious about. I am terrible at trying to explain things, but I will give it a try One bird flew at another on the ground, The bird on the ground rolled onto it's back and engaged the second bird. This happened a second time after witch the second bird left the first one alone. The first bird remained on it's back for several minutes. I was wondering, is this submissive behaviour, or is it playing? The resident Magpies are quite friendly. I like to feed them every now and then. They know when I have some meat for them, they seem to be very intelligent birds.

I’d say it’s submissive
I have a billion crows around my house but they wont come to party :(
1:35 Lol they are harassing it, poor bird.
1:52. They are mauling Ernie and Elmo.
😃
I don't understand... I've never seen maggies act like this. Is it a family group or a general collection? The ease at which they play with each other seems at odds at how territorial they are?

It's mother and dad playing with the kids. The juvenile magpies have mottled coloured feathers.
😂😂😂👏👏👏
i imprinted on a young mockingbird by talking to it, i didnt mean to but the bird was not afraid of me at all. it would follow me around the house and land next to me like hey im here ;-; i tried to scare it away and i did but im sure my cat got him, never saw it again. i think of how that bird was to me and it makes me sad ;-;

Actually, Australian magpies are Artamids. Butcherbirds and currawongs are part of the same family.
Can you answer a question for me? Magpies get a bad rap for being very territorial and it’s said that the classic beautiful warble they do is a sign of intimidation and to back off. Is this true or is it more innocent than that? I thought it was like how cats purr when they’re happy that magpies warble when they’re happy but I could be wrong?
@michaelfisher9671
3 жыл бұрын
No way. They have a very different call; a repeated raucous rising note - when they are upset and they are threatening you. I’d be very surprised if this warbling is an attempt to intimidate. They seem to do it when they are still and resting and it isn’t accompanied by any of the sorts of physical behaviours I would associate with intimidation.
@michaelfisher9671

Also many birds are territorial. If you are going to give them a bad rap for being territorial, you probably need to give most backyard Australian birds the same bad rap
@johnpaproth5684

no they warble all the time it is only during nesting season will the male swoop but if they know you they will not swoop they remember you for life
😂
Oh, no! Not Elmo & Ernie...
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣☕️🇦🇺
why can't i live in a land where the wild magpie grows :P
Love the videos, The bonds formed are just awesome On that note can you please assist with a question please. We have lived in the same house for some time, not far from the coast lots of Birds, Black Cockys over the road, sunbirds, kookaburra's, finch's etc Up till about 8months ago i had my Magpie alarm clock and curious apprentice whenever i was out in the yard, after he or she left for her daily border patrol The butcher birds would visit, sometimes all at the same time. the songs from both are rarely heard now and i noticed the crows in there place. Any connection ? oh occasionally the mongrel cuckoo's are seen and heard
@michaelfisher9671

I noticed the same thing. Unfortunately, crows tend to drive out other birds. The more crows we have, the less we see of the magpies and butcher birds. Fortunately it seems to be seasonal. The crows are sometimes here and sometimes they aren’t and when the crows aren’t here, the butcher birds and magpies are back

@@michaelfisher9671 Something to think about. Do the crows come around when school holidays are on. No reliable food source at school when kids are on holidays , so they move into surrounding neighbourhoods and drive the competition for food.

Is there any chance you could upload long videos, like 20min or more,? My cats LOVE watching your videos, but its so annoying to have to prepare a long playlist for them!
they are not playing ,the parents are teaching the young about the pecking order in the family lol
They may love and enjoy the toys, but there is also a lot of jostling and sneak attacks for dominance and territory going on. Animals don't play without including survival skills.
Go thru 500g of mince with mine...love them to death...new babies on the way soon
Magpies can be dreadful agro birds We had a bunch in the UK They were one at a time running in and out of bush When i looked in the bush They were eating some bird alive It was grosser in reality
