A “Rhapsody” is an instrumental composition of irregular form that often incorporates folk tunes and improvisation, as is also the present work, written in 2017. It uses six well-known Scottish folk tunes which are set into various arrangements or variations and present the entire tonal palette of an orchestral type pipe organ: Scotland the Brave - Annie Laurie - The Flowers of Edinburgh - Loch Lomond - Auld Lang Syne - The Hundred Pipers.
