Hanoi Train Street & Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum | WATCH BEFORE YOU GO

Today we continued to check off the best things to do in Hanoi! With only two full days in Vietnam's capital, we made sure we were up and out of bed early as there was so much to see! We explored the Botanical Gardens, checked out the famous Train Street, and tried our luck not one.....not two.....but THREE TIMES to visit Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum!
The saying “third times a charm” truly came true today (kind of). After several attempts of trying to access the grounds of Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum we finally got in! HOWEVER, we were hit with some more roadblocks. We read a ton of articles and watched videos before going to make sure we had all of the information but we ended up missing some key details! Here is what we learnt:
*** This was as of October 2023 when we visited ***
1. We believe cameras ARE ALLOWED. However, Tripods, Microphones, and maybe other accessories at not.
2. Photography is NOT ALLOWED in the Mausoleum (when viewing Ho Chi Minh), but it is on the Mausoleum grounds.
3. To dress appropriate you need to cover your shoulders and knees. NO SHORTS for anyone (men, women, etc.)
4. The MUSEUM is open from 8am - 12pm & 2pm - 4:30pm…We think?
5. The MAUSOLEUM is open from 8am - 11am.
6. The GROUNDS are open from 5am - 10pm
*** again please fact check us as rules may have changed or we may have misunderstood them ***

There are lockers there to store your professional cameras. The concern is not that you're going to use your tripod as a weapon - they just don't want people doing professional photography there. That's why people with small point and shoot cameras don't get stopped.

That makes a lot more sense! Thanks for sharing 😁 Hopefully we will now be better prepared if we ever go back to visit again!
