A journey back in time to the Baroque era: At the Handel Celebration Concert on the occasion of the 250th anniversary of the death of George Frideric Handel, leading interpreters of Baroque music presented an opulent program dedicated to the work of the great composer. The concert took place in 2009 at the Marktkirche in Halle/Germany.

The Handel Celebration Concert from 2009 had a very special relevance to the life of George Frideric Handel (1685 - 1759). Born in Halle in 1685, Handel left his hometown at a young age, worked in Hamburg and Hanover, traveled around the musical capitals of Italy, and finally went to London, where he died in 1759 and was buried with high honor in Westminster Abbey. Twenty-five years after his death, a memorial concert was held in this famous London church to pay posthumous tribute to him. The program for this concert from 1784 was played again on the 250th anniversary of Handel's death. This time, the venue was the Marktkirche in Halle, where Handel had been baptized and where he had received organ lessons.
Along with Johann Sebastian Bach, Handel is considered the most important composer of the late Baroque period. His works, especially his numerous large-scale operas and oratorios, not only reflect the musical style of his time, but are of far-reaching appeal and continue to captivate music lovers all over the world.

All mans achievement is in this hall . The architecture, the technology, the paintings, the sculptures, the skilled crafts people, ,the genius off the compositions ,the artists talents , the hard work to achieve all this, the clothing, the printing , the written words, the written music, the incredible variety off the instruments, and mountains more!!!! This single concert is a compilation off all man has achieved. Praise be to God who gave all the myriads : the ability ,the talents , perseverance to achieve, and enjoyment off it all !!

He would indeed, this is glorious! I remember when Handel and Bach were celebrated back to back in 1985, three centuries after their births: these two musical deities have become an inspiration and an expression of hope to people literally all around the world.

Wunderschöne Interpretation dieser fein oder perfekt komponierten Meisterwerke mit gut harmonisierten Stimmen der perfekt trainierten Chöre und herrlichen Stimmen dreier genialen Solisten sowie gut vereinigten und perfekt entsprechenden Tönen aller Instrumente. Der intlligente und geniale Dirigent leitet das ausgezeichnete Orchester in verschiedenen Tempi und mit künstlerisch kontrollierter Dynamik. Wunderbar vom Anfang bis zum Ende!

Handel as a composer is often underrated. Although he is not Bach, he is among my 5 favorite composers. Maybe it is that I like Baroque, but also in another era Handel would have been outstanding I am convinced!

Händel sowohl als auch Bach werden, denke ich, nicht unterschätzt. Jeder Komponist hat wunderbare Werke geschaffen, die uns bis heute Freude bereiten. Ebenso Schütz, Buxtehude und so viele andere. Ich sehe sie als sich ergänzend an. Ich freue mich an jedem mich berührenden Musikstück.
Un concerto di Haendel, un musicista straordinario in particolare per la musica “ trionfale “in un ambiente dalle sonorità lucenti , un evento superlativo!!!! Esserci deve essere stato bellissimo!

A great fan of Handel's Messiah, I had never heard of this musical piece. What brought me here was my reading of Francis Schaeffer's "Art and the Bible in which Schaeffer mentions his deep appreciation for the Dettingen Te Deum.

But the Händelfestspielorchester regularly plays concerts in honour of George Frideric Handel, for example at the annual Handel Festivals in Halle and Göttingen. What a wonderful concert and memorial to a great musician. It was no wonder that Beethoven appreciated him as a role model-his music is still suited to centuries beyond his life. It was somewhat disappointing that the contribution of the great Halle pipe-organ was omitted here, considering that Handel had such affinity with it. .

On every single extant signature on scores, letters, documents and everything else, Handel signed himself using his preferred English form of his name; your use of the anachronistic German style is as odd as - in a similar naturalisation case - referring to Lully as Lulli.
