:) Clear speech is everyone's goal. Thanks for visiting my channel.
I'm glad you learned something from this video. I started making KZread videos in my spare time, but it's grown to be a part of my regular work schedule. I'm a former classroom teacher. Today I work online. :)
Jennifer. You are an extraordinary teacher. You impresses me every time with your classes. I am a beginner in College. I´m from Cuba. I have been here only for 2 years. The proffesor asked me how can I speak English if I never attend to school here in the United States. I told them the truth. Because I have the best proffesor on the internet. Thanks Jennifer!!!
Hello Bimal. Very good to hear from you again. I hope you are well. Thank you for stopping by. Best wishes to you!
Yes, young lady ! Indeed, " all of this was helpful and it will be useful ", and that's for sure, to say the very least; You aren't merely teaching English... you teach how to effectively use it in real-life situations, and most notably, in combination with body language, which You use gracefully...... and the final product is something simple and great, as well; something like feeding a baby naturally and passionately. Thank You very much. Please don't forsake it; the greater progress is yours
Thank you, Justin. You are kind with your words and your support. :)
Thank you for watching. I have a few more topics I'd like to cover in this series. :) I'll return to the more academic-oriented videos soon enough. I'm glad you are enjoying these lessons.
Hello Syed. Thank you. I hope now you'll be more aware of the gestures used not only in films and on TV, but also around you every day in the U.S. I was picking my children up from school the other day, and I watched how a grandfather showed his grandchild, "I'm watching you" -- just as I showed in this video. :) Regards!
What a beautifully supportive comment. Thank you. I know that some of the gestures are universal and/ or obvious in meaning, but as I've told others, I'd like to help language learners attach an English interpretation to familiar signs. Kind wishes to you!
Jennifer, you're a great teacher! Thank you!
Thanks for watching. Yes, I think many of the signs are easy to recognize, but the trick now is to attach English meanings to familiar gestures. :)
Hello. Thank you for the support. I think a lot of the expressions I attached to the gestures would be said very much the same way by American men: time-out, cut it out, wait, crazy... Speaking style is very individual, though. Some use more intonation than others. The more high-pitched tones are likely more feminine. I'd suggest watching some TV shows here on KZread and observing gender differences in speaking style.
Hi Jennifer! You teach us english often smiling, every time, every lesson. It is awesome!!!
I'm happy to hear that this last one was interesting. The next video in this series is almost ready. Some topics will be more relevant than others, but hopefully all of them will be of some interest. :) When I was studying another language, I always enjoyed learning about the culture, from folklore to songs and social customs. Regards!
Hello everyone! By the way, I wonder now if I explained the quote-unquote gesture clearly enough. I should have changed the example to say that Joe called in sick and said he's "resting," but actually is off having fun with friends. Hope it made sense! Thank you for watching.
Thanks, Ms. Jennifer, I learned a lot form your videos particular this video of gesture language. However, I lived in US for more thank 5 years. I am looking forward to learning more from you.
I was not lying when I said I am your student, maybe the oldest one. Gestures are a good help for communication. Thanks again.

Thank you so much, for these lessons Jennifer. I am really learning a lot, please keep doing more videos. Take care.
I'm happy to hear that. I hope you'll use the exercises on my website to review. Have a good weekend!
Well, maybe not perfect, but I hope it was useful! (See the comments below about a better example for the quote-unquote gesture.) Have a good week!
Hi Benjamin. I have a WordPress blog for teachers. Mostly I target older learners, but some of my teaching tips are for English language instruction in general. Also, I recommend channels here on KZread that make use of songs and rhymes. SuperSimpleSongs is extremely popular, for example. Good luck. If you have more questions, feel free to visit the community forum on my website. We can discuss questions more in detail there. Regards!
Hello! Oh, there are so many gestures to cover. Every time I reviewed the list, I kept adding on more. I didn't expect to have a two-part video. I originally planned for only one video! Well, at least this lesson gets everyone thinking about the importance of gestures. I hope language learners will now have more ease attaching an English meaning to familiar gestures. :)
Hello. Yes, I have a limited teaching schedule on Skype. Unfortunately, I'm not able to accept new students, but I can recommend other teachers to contact. Please visit my website for more information. Kind regards!
Hello Mohammed. Do you mean like family customs and routines? That could be an interesting topic. From praise to discipline. Are those the kinds of points you have in mind? Regards!
Do you mean the -ed ending in the simple past (walked, hugged, etc.)? If so, look at my lesson on the simple past in the Verb Tenses playlist. I address pronunciation. Regards!
Hello Jennifer, this is just another helpful free video as usual. Thanks wonderful teacher!
Hello and thank you for the warm support. If I can help keep you interested in learning English and teach you new things, then I'm very happy! Corrections/ suggestions: I've fancied all your videos since I found them on KZread. Thanks to your "masterpieces" (maybe only for me), I find myself interested in studying English. Although I don't have enough time to participate in any English courses due to my work schedule, I always wait for your next video and download it to watch later.
That's helpful! Now you just need to encourage your brain to attach English meanings to familiar gestures. :)
It seems you already have a foundation. Now you need to set realistic goals and develop a study plan. I have Study Tips and recommended resources on my website. I suggest regular reading, even just a little each day or a few times a week. Note new words and expressions. Review their meanings and pay attention to the context they are used in. Also, use films, new, or TV clips here on KZread. I have suggestions in my Study Tips on how to make use of these free resources.
Thanks so much my teacher. My teacher is great,I love you!
Okay. I'll keep it in mind. Thank you. :)

Of all the very good 10 videos in your series, this is the one I like most so far! informative, interesting, and especially your very natural expression, i check youtube every 2day for your new videos! Thanks for all your lessons, Ms.Jennifer :)

Thank you for watching the lesson. Actually, I am not certain what that gesture is! In any case, I did not want the focus to be on anything too offensive. Communication is at its best when it is respectful.
Very nice mam. Its very useful for me to take class for my kids (students)

what does it mean when an american moves a hand over the head, moving their wrist? we often have seen it in the show FRIENDS.

Hmm. Can you find a clip of that gesture? Are they moving the back of their hand across their forehead? That would be a gesture of relief.
Hola Jeni! I like the big white lyrics in your videos. I hope you keep them in future videos. Remember that some people have miopia or an eye condition I love your voice is very sweet and soothing, but is that your real voice? Most people change their voices at least a bit for the videos Saludos :D

Hi Marcela. Back in 2013 I was still using captions in my editing software. Now I upload to YT and use YT captions to allow viewers the choice of turning captions on or off. However, I noticed that the captions can appear in different backgrounds. Lately, they've been white on white, which is hard to read. But that's on Chrome. When I switch to Firefox, they're white on black, like I want them to be. It's strange. So if there's ever a problem with captions, try using a different browser. Thanks and see you on Simor! :)
Thank you madam :)

Hello Jennifer i watching your channel on KZread and i like your teaching and i have a question// DO YOU TEACH ON Skype ?
I am waiting you reply Jennifer
Hello my Teacher Jennifer, I love you
when ever I looked up "hand expressions" all i got was women showing "how to" "express" milk.........mostly from them lmfao... I could only imagine explaining that back then to when I was actually interested in it but back then however was a time when KZread was a bit up tight about indecency, nudity, being turned inappropriately whilst being natural. "Hand Expression"/Expressions.... I won't rate what I saw from looking it up, though it was a hell lot different then hand expressions that also relate to gestures XD
