Alpine tundra, pristine lakes, epic fishing and high mountain valleys are just some of the rewards that await at the end of the Hancock Lake 4wd Trail. The trail begins at the old townsite of Hancock, Colorado and from there heads south into the Chalk Creek Pass Valley. You will traverse through Conifer forests, Willows and Tundra on your way toward the parking area that sits at just over 11,600' of elevation. A short hike from the parking area brings Lower Hancock Lake into view, and a more focused hike will take you to Upper Hancock Lake that sits just a bit higher in the valley. Be sure to respect this pristine area and pack out everything you pack in.

Great video. Was initially wondering if I could get my Sequoia up there but saw the full size Chevy PU. Although this was 6 years ago....🤔

Head over to our website and take a look there. If you still have questions, you can go to the bottom and ask the writer what he thinks for the current state of the trail. You can find the link in the video description abvoe.

Nice little. Caught some nice cut throats there. Climbed that saddle in background quiet a few times. If you look down on the other side you can see Pride of The West mine which can be reached by turning off at Maysville on way up Monarch Pass.

Just saw your site. Looks like a nice trail to take my Wrangler up. Went up to Grizzly Lake, on the other side of the ridge, about three months ago. Tough road, even in the Jeep. But a great climb. Did some fly-fishing at Grizzly and caught about 20 beautiful Brookies.
