I'd like to see how you'd cope with waking up from a short coma after life-threatening injuries, to not remember anything about your life and have no idea who the women and two children are waiting in the hospital ward for you, only to find out that they are your family.

im wondering if he ever gets tired about having to talk about the worst moment in his life and effectively relive ie in almost every interview since then. It's nice that people care but if I were him, talking about it over and over again would eventually drive me mad

Not at all. He has a very deadpan sense of humour and you can tell by the way he talks that he's used to sharing his thoughts. He wouldn't appear on the show otherwise.

That's all they ever asked Evel Knievel about. Every interview was about his failed jump rather than his successful ones. It's something you have to expect when you put yourself in those situations.

But the first joke about it after the crash that I can remember is in the 1st episode of season 10 where Clarkson makes a remark during the news about "All three of us smoke while driving and we don't crash... Well, two of us don't..." And we've been getting a steady stream of remarks like that ever since. Subtle, but they're definatly there and always have been. ;)

I'm quite surprised actually. I can see where you are coming from. I think that maybe the comment was intended for comedic purposes as taking the mickey can be funny at times as long as you don't take it too far. I've just looked it up and the BBC say that they were sorry but had just meant it for humor. But I think that nowadays top gear is more of an entertainment program and you have to come to expect it.

It's to give context to the audience. Not everyone is going to know who Mindy is, and Mindy's name mainly became well known after the crash because the role she played caring for Richard during his recovery.
