Theater Major here. Yes this is very illegal. It doesn’t matter what group you are. You still need to buy the rights to perform. You also need to buy the scripts for the play. There is a lot more that goes into putting on a production then people think.

It was a church play, held inside of the church, with a church message, and permission to continue performing as long as it wasn't on live stream. They took off the livestream and everything from the internet yet others are uploading it. Literally, Jesus sings in this play.... that could definitely be called a parody. Plus no one was charged anything to attend. There is no law suit.

Performance and legal issues aside, the set and costumes are pretty impressive for a small church play. I wish my highschool had this level of quality.

all jokes aside, eliza has potential. she definitely isn't vocally trained and is not a soprano, but she can still do really well if trained. same goes for angelica, she is a soprano, but her voice came across as nasally. i'm not a vocal trainer so i can't say i know what i'm doing but i can tell them girls have potential if properly trained.

@@Alphonse007 i could hear some good notes on her, i also liked her first few parts when she sang as maria (she even kinda sounded like the original). she have trouble reaching certain notes, and have tendency to fall flat, but i don't think she's truly tone deaf. like her infamous "the boy is minee" part, before that, she sounded fine, and the succeeding notes in the "mine" part kinda saves that part for me. just the loud and bassiness of that part just enhanced how flat she was. idk if i am making sense, but in my opinion, just give her some time and practice, she can do better.

I saw a video about this on the news that this was illegal because this was unauthorized. These actors are doing really good in this though. An unauthorized production is illegal and could probably get in trouble with the law if this wasn't authorized.

Also I will be honest part of it was the sound system she is honestly pretty talented but that sound system was absolutely terrible. Are you willing to reveal the approximate age ranges of cast members? (Specific ages discouraged for online privacy reasons.) A lot of people have been assuming everyone is a teenager (probably 14-18 the way people are talking) except Washington and King George. But if Eliza and Alex are married, then I assume they are at least 18? I thought they were both about 16-17 until I heard they were married so I figure maybe they're 18-20 but just look young (not uncommon at that age tbh). Also, I remember a comment asking, "why is Jefferson a grown man," which made me wonder if he's actually "a grown man" or if he's high school aged but the beard makes him look older.

Agreed. They unnecessarily removed songs. I’m still holding a grudge towards Dear Theodosia!! However, I believe recreating hamilton in this context is highly illegal, clean or not. They had no rights to perform this musical or alter the songs.

@@christinasp2i don't think these were supposed to be professionals. I think they did a great performance (not necessarily the topic). I agree that they didn't have the best voices but It's something they love doing so no need for all the negative comments.

@@giglord Oh yeah of course, I don't mean to insult them. I personally haven't seen people genuinely blame the kids for it. Only the people in charge/the church. I don't think it's right to think it's their fault. Obviously people have made fun of them because of their singing or acting also because they're associated with the church. Even so many have said that with proper training they could be great in theatre which I agree. I also think many people critiquing it may be looking at it from a theatre/broadway perspective/standard even if they don't come from a theatre group/production company and were just having fun. Despite everything I will say that their setting and costumes are pretty good or decent enough for the production they put. (Oops, so sorry for the long post)

with practice she would be really good, some lines are amazing!

Eliza in helpless and and Mariah in Say no to this are the best voices probably though. They’re the only ones that have potential.

They’re played by the same person sksjsgdggd😭💀 And I think whoever played Burr is pretty good. I think he probably should have been in a different role, and he’s certainly not ready for broadway, but he sounds the best out of everyone in my opinion. Washington wasn’t bad either, but he was horribly flat every time he opened his mouth.
