I'm here after Netflix too.. Did you see here how the interviewer asked him about jeans.... My heart skipped a beat. Remember the jeans situation and how he loathed Calvin Klein and his success with jeans. How he thought designer jeans was so tasteless. And his refusal to go into jeans is what began the final downward turn for Halston, the man and the brand.

Then when pressed further, by Mike Douglas who clearly is the one that isn't a fan of jeans, with the question, "But, where... should they be worn?" He responded with several examples, "I think for the younger public, and I think for country life and I think for beach life and that sort of thing and I think they're sexy and they work for mostly everybody, especially young people. @beverly lipscomb, front row, I read the book "Simply Halston", that the Netflix show was based on, and have at least 4 other books about Halston ( I am a big fan), this was a fairly accurate picture of Halston, although the book "Simply Halston was very gossipy, Ryan Murphy, did capture Halston, he was ego driven, catty, haughty, arrogant, demanding, at times insecure, genius at creating a "new" way for women to look and dress, he definitely captured that "jet set" lifestyle that he singlehandedly help create. During those early years,as indicated in the show and detailed in the book, Halston had a great work ethic, and that continued until the nightlife called him, studio 54, coke, Victor Hugo ,fame, success, all formed a perfect storm, that's when hell broke loose, and his personal and business life too. Although the show explored his "relationship" with Victor Hugo, it didn't mention, how Andy Warhol, played a big part in that area too ( messy w queens, lol), Although they maintained a professional relationship, Andy Warhol was completely smitten with Halston,( Warhol has said about Halston how tall and handsome he was) and behind Halston's back Andy Warhol carried on with Victor Hugo encouraging his bad behavior, in the one scene in the show, where Halston is throwing one of his parties, and he goes upstairs, and watches as Victor Hugo is engaged in an orgy with other men and you see someone in the background filming the scene, that someone was Andy Warhol ( this was how it was stated in the book "Simply Halston") I'm surprised that neither Andy Warhol or Biannca Jagger were featured or mentioned in the show, as they both were a part of Halstons life, or even Liz Taylor. Nor did any mention of the Halstonettes, beyond the 2 actresses portraying Pat Cleveland and Karen Bjornson, who didn't say much if anything. But it did accurately detail Halstons relationship with Joe Eula and Elsa Perritti ( who loved and worshipped Halston until they fell out completely, in the book, it was a sable coat, halston had given to Elsa, not fox, that she had thrown in the fireplace at a party at Halston townhouse, not at Studio 54. I think I better stop, probably way too much information, ( as always from me, 😆)

@@TheBeverly7 hey Beverly, it's me the fashion nerd, ( I'm using another phone I have, lol) we chatted before about fashion, but the other 4 books I have about Halston were basically about his clothes, more picture books than anything else. But I am a big Halston fan, was and still is , always loved his personna, his clothes, etc, I don't know if people realize that he in fact was a pioneer when he stared his collaboration /partnership with JC Penny, he is probably rolling over in his grave, knowing that today it no big deal for a top designer to collaborate with other companies! In fact it's good for business. Lol

You have to understand that back in the late 70s people were just starting to wear jeans as an everyday staple. Before that, jeans were reserved for farm work, cleaning, anything you would do where you would get dirty. My grandmother was born in 1908, and she hated it when we started wearing jeans. She thought it was so uncouth...she told us we all looked like farmers.

@@fareshajjar1208 Ah, you mean he was code-switching. Everyone does it, even you. Like, you probably use a different tone of voice or fall into a different 'character' when you are with your home family than you do with your co-workers or golf buddies. That's not phony. That's survival. LOL. Halston decided who he needed to be in order to succeed in that industry in that world in that era. Good on him.
