6 Ways Halston Revolutionized Fashion
Halston and Fashion: One of the most influencial american fashion designers of the 70s, his designs transcended decades.
His most famous designs, like the ultrasuede shirtdress, the sculptural dresses and kaftans defined the minimalist fashion of that period. He created classic and timeless pieces that we can actually wear today.
In this video, we'll dive into the 6 ways Halston Revolutionized Fashion. From haute couture to JCPenney, this man has done it all.
Let me know in the comments below what's your favorite design from Halston, and which one you think should stay in the 70s!

This is the most original Halston content I have seen in any video on youtube! I’m so grateful! Thanks for creating this!
That is so important to emphasize............Halston clothes can be worn today.
I used to wear Halston designs in the 70s. They are still my favorite clothes. Just a genius he was. Exciting and interesting.
Grew up with Halston my mom would buy every collection from 1976 to 1984.
His designs were elegant and women didn’t just wear them They became them
I remember draping scarves over my Barbie’s back in the day like this! 💖✨😭
Great video! So many people only remember Halston as a jet-setting regular at Studio 54 and aren't aware of how much he contributed to a true American style. It's very rare that a designer's work becomes timeless and can be worn at any time......his designs transcends the decades. He was truly a genius and the ultimate American designer!

Thanks Jule! 100% agree with you, his work deserves to be remembered and cherished!
Halston put American fashion and fashion designers on the world map. Halston's designs still stand the test of time. His clothing is still relevant.
I'm ahhh, let's say old enough to remember him. I'm so glad you've found him and his style.
He was really a revolutionary designer. A man ahead of his time. Thank you for sharing.
Halston was a master , the American respond to Saint Laurent or Valentino , with a unique signature , great cut , innovation , timeless clothing .

That's it! It was definitely Halston vs YSL during the Battle of Versailles, much in the same way that it would've been Oscar de la Renta vs Givenchy on the same battle
I remember when Halston was popular in the ‘70’s. My dad loved Halston cologne. Great video. Yes, many of his designs looks modern and fresh today.
A wonderful encapsulation of the Halston aesthetic.
He along with Yves St. Laurent were Civil Rights Workers in their own way since they Hired Women Of Color for their Shows. Pat Cleveland who would later work as a Fashion Consultant for various African American Magazines most notably Ebony. He showed that American Designers could hold their own considering that the Top Designers were of European Background. He worked as a Clerk in A Chicago High Class Department Store where The Soap Opera Genre was created and it was in Chicago, Ill that Eric Forrester got his start working with his Father at his Tailor's Shop.
Daaarrrling...who doesn't love a Caftan! Bravo Halston!
In 8:44 seconds you have utterly and completely given the world the best of his timeless designs and aesthetic. Bravo!!

When he spoke he tried to mimic Diana Vreeland! Boy oh Boy! I was 7 and already aware of Halston! At 13 I was admiring the bathroom tiles Ads of Gianni Versace! Fun fact: My brother in low bought them to isolate, for hygienic reasons, the space where he filters Honey of his bees: He's a semi-professional beekeeper, but his Honey quality is at Gianni Versace level of perfection! ( forget Michael Kors Times, I m talking about the 70s...)
Sorry to say that, but Kaftan wasn't invented by him, it's actually a traditional African dress, he just made it fashionable in the USA. Besides that, Halston was a Revolutionary Fahion Designer and you made a good job with this video! Loving it!

The creator only said that he made the kaftan popular, not that he invented three kaftan.

Yes but he made it fashionable to wear out of Africa and on the catwalk. So....... You were saying?
I used to love his perfume
The yellow chiffon caftan worn by Veruschka is by George Stavropoulos, not Halston.
Tom Ford referenced Halson when he designed Gucci's Fall/Winter 1996 collection. Tom did a great job at Gucci, but for his second job at YSL, which was still good, I think he should've worked at Halston instead. One can only imagine what the Halston brand would be like today had Tom Ford or Karl Lagerfeld became the creative director. Some models seen in this video are Pat Cleveland, Alva Chinn, Anjelica Huston, Karen Bjornson, Connie Cook and Pat/Patricia Ast (the plus-size model); known as the "Halstonettes."
His.gowns-clothes were.fantastic! I.remember going to the pattern store & my fostermom choosing the patterns of the best.designers ever! ( She was a great seamstress; continue to RIHP, Fashion Empress, Ms. Catherine Briggs!) 💘 👗 👡 😍

More geniuses needs to learn from halston. He sold his name, lived life too free and in the end those two things claimed his life. When you’re trying to make it and do make it remain focused on your goals, disassociate with anything dodgy, sketchy or unsafe in any way, develop and maintain healthy habits and for the love of god never loose sight of your vision due to glitz and glamour.

I was in my twenties...I remember his perfume
Someone should’ve been wearing him for the MET!
Wonderful music
You are not alone. I'm 58, and when I asked my 30 year old friends if they'd watched Halston on Netflix, not a single one knew who he was.

I’m 54, and I remember Halston very well. Isn’t it sad how many young people don’t remember him, or know other designers from that time like Adolfo, Pierre Cardin, Alfred Sung, etc.

I'm in my late 20s; there was a doc about him on CNN, and ever since, I have been in awe. And surprisingly didn't know his influence on fashion, and I love that side of 70s fashion
isnt the music a slowed down version of Love At First Sight - Kylie M ???? if not there's an inspiration for sure... you get a like just for that!
I wore Halston parfum for many years
Look at Anjelica Huston with her iconic self!
Create more content like this ends sure people will watch it this was very nice perhaps another person in the type of industry fashion or art industry or somewhere else.

😍
If he wasn't been so messed up he could have easily become another Calvin Klein or - even- Giorgio Armani. Besides that, his Tragedy is that all his archive was destroyed, so his innovative experiments are lost forever: that's a pity! Even Lagerfeld, always looking foreword, and forgetful about his previous collection, wouldn't have been pleased if his testimony would be utterly annihilated...Wouldn't he?
He was the Montana of the 70s & comparable of the mcQueen in the 00! No, Cristobal Balenciaga was above of them all, included YSL, Chanel and CD!
Darling, you need to educate yourself. My mother is Brazilian and she had a pair of Halston dresses. I think she must still have one of them.
