    Technically we got the mod tools through halo MCC, but not the tools that Saber used to do the graphical overhaul on the new graphics engine they made on top of the original graphics engine that bungie originally made in halo 1.

    During the development, there was a lot of discussion and arguments back and fourth between Microsoft and Saber about the art direction. Early on, Saber almost didn’t include the planet that the ring orbits and the skyboxes were apparently a constant point of contention. It’s weird seeing this early build because it’s not entirely clear what is unfinished lighting VS an intended look they were going for before modifying it

    @@Jellybob69 Yes, and Microsoft has long proven by now they don't care about Halo beyond making money lol Halo 4 is enough proof of that. I'm just glad it wasn't even worse and that CEA didn't have the Halo 4 art style. Give me copy and pasted Reach assets any day over that nightmare scenario. I'd also like to point out Halo 2 Anniversary was just as bad, the only real difference is that it had the Blur cutscenes and this game didn't.

    I agree they look more in line with the forerunner structures from halo 3 and classic, but the final game has more of that halo reach forge forerunner look. Chiefs armor also has more of a nice shine of green to it which I kind of like more than the final game

    Nooooo, what they did was a good change. I don't like the reach design, so much so that on infinite I got the skin for the AR that makes it look like the classic :p

    @@ThePilleroflightning I thought it was pretty obvious by Reach that Bungie purposefully redesigned everything to give it a more realistic look. The Assault Rifle is how it would look if CE released in 2010, just like how the marines, the Autumn, and the Mark V armor were redesigned to look more advanced and militaristic. Like no, I'm sorry, but Chief's cartoony ass look in CEA is not canon, he wore the Mark V armor as we see it in Reach. Same with the giant ass Assault Rifle, it fit the original's simple, cartoonish graphics, but every time we see the classic design in HD or even real life it looks fucking silly and Bungie had the common sense to realize it. It looks good when Chief uses it, it doesn't look good when a normal ass marine wearing regular combat armor does.

    @@nagger8216 Dude. Reach, no matter how you look at it, is a SPIN-OFF game. It completely changed the art-direction from the trilogy for a more gritter, more bland design, to fit the grim reality. Tf do you mean the CE AR would’ve looked like that if it released in 2010. No it would not lmao. All of the AR designs are designed differently purposefully. If Bungie had done another game after reach, the AR would obviously look slightly different than CE, 3, and Reach. It depends on what the game is going for. Not to mention, Reach is hella decisive. The story in the book and the actual game is VASTLY different. It’s simply a product from Microsoft wanting Bungie to make two more halo games before they left for good.

    Can someone explain the differences? I’m hearing there’s differences in the bsps, which interests me more than the terrible CEA graphics. Is this true?

    The lighting seems "better" for some reason Maybe it's because of the cooler colors compared to retail's warmer colors Some of the weapon sounds are also a bit off

    @@jordychinchin All old builds are found on old dev kits that they used to use to develop their games. They delete the contents and sell them, but it's very easy to recover deleted content

    I'm glad that some of the halo reach assets didn't end up being in the final game. It's not faithful to original graphics or art style that bungie already established in halo in the first place.

    I disagree, I thought Reach's artstyle was basically Bungie screaming at us "THIS IS HOW COMBAT EVOLVED WOULD LOOK LIKE IN 2010" Like, you can't look at the Spartans' armor, the UNSC's marines, weaponry and vehicles, the Covenant, the Autumn, Forge World, then compare that to CEA and suddenly go "Nah, that's not what Bungie would've wanted." The lighting is all fucked up and the rigging on the models is pathetic, but generally the Reach artstyle fits perfectly.

    Gotta be honest but could you possibly replay this without the bottomless clip, infinite ammo, and godmode on?? TwT It really does ruin the experience tbh
