After months and months of pain losing runs nearly every day to Library and some beyond, I have finally broken a minute barrier. This has been one of the most mentally taxing things that I have done. This is one of my favorite games of all time, and being tested by it and trying to perfect it has been quite the journey. There is still timesave to be had, so I will be trying to go for a low 1:02. I don't know if I could get a 1:01, but who knows. If I look giga over it at the start of the run, it's because the 2 days prior to this didn't even have a single run to library. So I was getting quite frustrated. But I refused to give up. Since I knew I had the ability to do it. This is in the video description, but I'll also post it here as well. If for some reason you don't like my voice (literally badger from breaking bad) or don't want it over the run. Early game can get so frustrating when it's just a loop of the first 2 missions. Especially when it's the same thing over and over again causing those resets. Glad to finally be past that 1:03 wall

My sum of best is 1:01:11. Adding first floor skip on Library could bring that down to 1:00:45ish. Not sure were the other 45 seconds would come from tho. And that's also assuming I'd play at my literal peak for an hour straight. Definitely need something new. If only there was a big timesave on Halo found. Making the banshees pilotable would be huge, but the game script has them un-pilotable.

@@SlothSG Maybe you could break the collision on AoTCR similar to TB and avoid having to navigate around geometry and waste time on banshee teleports.

@@sdfopsdmsdofjmp7863 you can, but its really hard :requires a teleport into glass into another teleport with a jump while also sticking yourself. It's done in the IL. Saves about 15 seconds

I made 1:01:59 splits to compare against. They are absolutely toxic, but it is "doable". Might go for it eventually. First Floor Skip on Library would make it a bit easier. As that saves 25ish more seconds.

Who knew to get your 1:02 goal time was to just Cody Miller the game on heroic for a bit first, just to appease the category gods to let RNGesus give you break for once on the next legendary grind a day after. GG Sloth, lurking your streams, it was obvious that when getting past halo the level, not the game, there was always a bit of hype getting to AOTCR. But even more hype getting past library. The grind paid off, you made history getting this past a minute barrier. Big clap!

Bro, subbing 1:03 was something that dreamers could only achieve by combining the gold splits of the top 5 runners. What sorcery has been further discovered and mastered in bending the code of CE to the will of the speedrunner gods!

Congratulations! This is no easy task. Similarly, I admire your efforts to set Twitch chat straight. I saw you in the trenches of summit1g's chat during that brief halo 2 attempt. 😁 Lastly, I wanted to say the projectile range for the Halo 1 shotgun is 40wu and this would make it the same as the pistol. There was a discussion about it and I think you said it was 30wu when you listed the ranges along with Halo 2 and 3. At any rate, godspeed!

Watching that ending was beyond stressful, two times almost got blown up by popcorn

We all thought the 1:03 barrier would be broken by one of the trailblazers: Sloth, Cambid, Helpless, Nervy, maybe even Zoo or a newly inspired Garish. Nah, everything changed when the cat attacked-how inconsiderate of Sloth to edit in his face on the felines work. Seriously tho, congrats on the hard earned and well deserved record. Glad to see a legendary moment like this.

I'm sorry, Sloth, but I'll have to proof-call this run for the integrity of the leaderboards and speedrunning in general. The submission to the HaloRuns website claims that this time was achieved on Tuesday, the 26th of March in the year of our Lord 2024, when in fact, it was acquired on Monday, the 25th of March of the same year (anno Domini). This leaderboard inconsistency is untenable and will need to be resolved.

Yeah, first time viewing of all the tricks that have been found over the years is quite an experience. Might I recommend the Segmented speedrun that the community released back in 2021. This is a very great speedrun, and you should be damn proud of it. Well done, Sloth. That being said...I find the twitch chat to be VERY annoying at times, especially when certain people start to spam like crazy. It's understandable at the end cutscene of Maw, you got an incredible world record and all. I just wish that people could be a little more...I dunno, thoughtful and ask to themselves if it's really necessary any earlier than at the end. "Just don't look at the chat" is probably gonna be said but that's easier said than done if you're easily distracted due to a diagnosis or similar that you have. Anyway, well done yet again! I wonder how much more that can be improved now. Is sub 1:02 realistic? I guess we'll see. If I see you on Twitch, I'm gonna throw a follow at you. 🙂
