Johnny Bench said it well. Seaver was a hall of fame person. Class that few had or will ever have, a real role model as a player and a man. extraordinary pitcher who knew and understaood the game at a different level. Probably the best thing the mets did was to get him as a player. I never knew that tom and Johnny Bench were such good friends till i heard the hall of fame speech
Over a long career Seaver was the most consistent pitcher i have ever seen.He never got rocked in a game. 2.86 ERA LIFETIME IS BRILLIANT. He was AWESOME.
The 60's is now going on 60 years ago. 60 years! God bless all of the incredible athletes of the amazing 1960's & 70's. 🙂
Mr Bench should write a book about his career and life/He is a good man
Awesome players! God bless each one.
Johnny Bench said years ago that Tom Seaver was the smartest pitcher he had ever caught, and it wasn't close. I put Tom Seaver in the top 2 RHP of all time, along with Walter Johnson. In the post WW2 era, who was a better RHP than Seaver? Feller, Gibson, Maddux, Pedro, Clemens were all great, but better than Tom?

As a die-hard Mets fan, there's absolute sadness about the passing of the franchise
0:38 Good God, Bench's bald pate was always gross but his head is truly a frightening spectacle these days
