Half-Life - Roach AI Demonstration

Ойындар

Part of my Half-Life Fact Files series: • Half-Life Fact Files
This is a brief educational Half-Life film strip demonstrating the mechanics of how the roach's artificial intelligence works, a largely undocumented and overlooked aspect of this enemy's behavior.

+Guy Bob Indeed, Space Marines are closer to Army Rangers, requiring better combat expertise (because of interdimensional horrors, and fighting in low-G environments), as well as generally better sense, often being around expensive and vital equipment (breaching a pressured atmospheric zone can be grounds for getting court martialed, if you survive). You can't just enlist for it like with the Marines. The bright green combat armor is kind of questionable though, but my CO starts yelling at me whenever I ask for it.

We could learn some stuff doing this, then we'd do some other thing." Are you freaking kidding me? You are telling me that this game full of little details like that was just supposed to be a "quickie FPS"? ( Source : pc.gamespy.com/pc/half-life/932135p1.html )

i saw this video right after being done with Fallout 4, and i started to wonder what the hell is wrong with devs today? I got tired of companions standing in front of doorways, always a nuisance, and enemies charging like madmen with terrible pathing, exploding vertibird because of bad scripting and so on. And FO4 is not even the tip of the iceberg. Damn, some old games really had a lot of soul and love invested in them, i don't care what people say, they were the pinnacle of innovation and you can really tell they were made with a lot of passion. I want those days back, when devs were smart and consistent with their games.

I'd also add the other game Troika made before Bloodlinmes: Arcanum. Hell, I might as well throw in The Sims 1, the Command & Conquer series up till that point and, Diablo 2. A lot of great games. In contrast, the only game in recent years that got me hooked the way those games did would be XCOM.

+lulubeloo Half-Life comes from an era where you actually had to make an outstanding PC game to, well, stand out. And make sales. Gaming is so wide spread now that the finer points of development don't matter anymore. If there's a market, people will buy. Your games don't have to pack a serious punch as long as they satisfy the lowest common denominator of your playerbase. Not to say there aren't good games anymore.
