I learnt hindi from cartoons as a kid as well. I even went through hindi classes in school from class 5 till 9 but I still have that aata/aati problem. Probably cuz I rarely have to speak in hindi.

As a foreigner (in fact a fellow bengali) living in Japan I am curious isn't it hard for you in your day to day life when japanese people almost always assume you are one of them ?
