BostonFirewood.com provides kiln dried firewood in the greater Boston area and Metro West. What makes us different is we sell kiln dried firewood made from New England hardwoods. We store it indoors, we deliver it, we stack it for you, we give you the correct amount and the wood consistently burns well. It has not been stored on the ground so it is free of mud and dirt. The quantities we sell and deliver range from a third of a cord on up is size. If you want less we also offer pick up service of any size from a single bundle to any amount your vehicle can handle.
Our kiln dried wood burns consistently because the moisture content has been brought down to a point where the wood burns well since the fire is not working to dry the wood while it tries to burn. When you are ready to relax and have a warm fire you want it to start easily and burn consistently without a lot of work. Because it is dry hardwoods this kiln-dried wood lights easier than "seasoned" wood, has no bugs in it and will burn with a nice bright flame.
What sets us apart is we are a quality wood supplier that also provides the service of delivering of the wood. We do not stop at the curb then just dumping a pile of wood that you have to move. We deliver the wood and stack it. The first floor inside delivery is included. We go farther like upstairs or down to the basement or up and elevator just let us know since we may need more people. This channel is to show how we get the wood. Information on firewood burning tips and ideas. Where the wood is coming from. How it is a consistent product. Firewood industry information. We also hope to develop some entertaining information about fires, fireplaces, firewood, forestry, and relaxation. Please leave us comments on what you would like to see here in the future

Does it matter how long the wood was cut to make it a half cord. Mines is 16in

The short answer is yes it does not matter if the wood is not cut to 16" long pieces. If that dimension changes then the total cube dimension would be adjusted make it come out as 64 cubic feet. For an example, if you use the firewood calculator on our site bostonfirewood.com/firewood-calculator.html and change the length of the firewood pieces being cut to 20" the pile would now be 60" deep so the othe dimensions change so it equals 64 cubic feet. The half cord of firewood new dimension based on 20" = 60" deep made up of 3 rows. 4 feet high. Then the width of the pile would be 3.2 feet. So the measurements adjust based on the length of each piece. If you did one row of wood cut at 20" it would be 4' high 9.6 feet long and 20" deep. I hope this clarifies and does not confuse. The key is you want to get the correct total cubic feet of firewood and adjust the pile by how each piece is cut so it equals the 64 cubic feet. Post a comment again if I confused the issue. Thanks for posting.

Hay it's been 2 years sentce you last posted anything I hope you get this. My question is if one cord is 4×4×8 = 128 cubic feet then half a cord would be 2×2×4 =69 cubic feet, is this correct or do you just cut the 8 feet in half ???????

    I always thought a cord of wood was 4x4x8 = 128cuft and a half cord ( ric ) was 2x4x8 = 64 cuft , 69 cuft x 2 would give you 138 cuft.

Your math only works if you are cutting into 24" logs. Most firewood is 16" and requires 3 rows to make a cor, not 2.
