@@emilhaugsbakk7281 in POTC he's Scottish, while Verbinski wanted Bill to do a dutch accent, Bill couldn't do a very good one, but has a hell of a Scottish one, so instead he used his Scottish accent

Incredible. The CGI alone is stunning in the level of detail, down to the light particle effects, but it's the extensive recreation of all of Bill's facial movements that really wows me. It makes it so life like, especially little moments of blinking.

In another video by ILM, They showed the insane list they had for every single tiny facial movement Bill Nighy could do...that hard work is definitely behind them pulling it off. One quote was "Bill might feel weird if he knew how many hours our crew of people spent staring at his face."

I would seriously not mind Davy Jones being acted as a person and without the whole facial animation stuffs. Bill Nighy is incredibly awesome . His method of conveying speech and facial expressions in the movies are such a delight to watch . Bill Nighy FTW !!

Davy Jones is amazing, much more real than Avatar is, totally! I thought his face was some sort of mask, and that the tentacles was the only thing that was animated.

Pirates of the Caribbean has some amazing visual effects.

It's interesting when Davy jones reacted when he wanted to open the chest to see if his heart iis actually intact, is because when he got the news that Jack sparrow is finally dead, he didn't feel anything. The only time Davy Jones feels something is when his heart is nearby, he felt nothing after sparrows debt was finally settled.

One hell of an iconic character that they created in Davy Jones! Bill Nighy plays him flawlessly!

Sounds really strange, but this is why I fell in love with Bill Nighy. Hahaha

At about 1:15 you can see how he is flinching from seeing a father beat his son, is this just twitching or is he actually got some sort of hidden PTSD?

yes is so realistic only sometimes in day light they look cartoon or bit fake but maybe technology limitates them anyway to me this is the best ever seen related to cgi never stop amazing me

Davy Jones did a great job mocking Jack Sparrow

It's not about the number of polygons or how much you can wow the audience with the effects. We all know computer graphics can do anything, it's not as impressive in its own right as it was in the days of all-practical effects. It's the thought behind how the CGI serves the story and visuals. That they say things like 'A lot of the character in his face comes from the implied history of these marks' and 'We left the work of interpreting Bill's intentions as an actor to animators' shows how much care went into it. Then you see On Stranger Tides, where they outsourced different elements of the same *shot* to 10 different companies, and it explains why it's so soulless despite being more 'advanced'

I love that Davy actually seems like a good captain

you realise Jurrasiic Park was Practical effects right? Trex was truly a life size animotronic. 46 feet long 23 feet tall. the raptors were really 2 guys in very awesome costumes. if you dont believe me look up Jurrassic Park behind the scenes on youtube dude.
