Being an angler of 60+yrs, I must thank you for being the most informative/helpful angler on KZread (along with Jamie Hughes). Your hints/tips have certainly improved my catch rates as a pleasure angler, which obviously adds to the enjoyment of just being on the bank. Thank You so much for sharing these improvements to presentation, which, no matter how much you pay for rods/reels/poles etc., the bait presentation is the most important factor in angling. 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

I tie my hair rigs in exactly the same way. But having big clumsy fingers I used to struggle holding the hook securely without it moving while whipping the shank. So I got myself a fly tying vice to hold the hook securely for me and that made tying my hairs massively easier and a lot more accurately. I hope this tip might help some people with the same problem I used to have make their hair tying less stressful . Great vid Jon as always!

Just found this video. I have to say, it's the best and clearest detailed instruction video I've seen. I had just started experimenting with the larger loop. The spike in the end of the wafter presented the bait perfectly. I will have to give these a try

Excellent John, I tie mine exactly like yours except I use a figure of eight knot instead of an overhand knot because it appears neater if not stronger. I also use a Preston loop sizer to regulate the loop size depending on the size of hook I’m tying. Thank you for your help. 🤓

This is the best video I found about this subject. Thank you very much. I never realized that this was the problem I had. I now make all my banded hooklengths like this. In the beginning it's a little bit fiddley but after a while I tie the 4 inch almost with my eyes closed. But the shorter they become the more fiddley it will be. Thanks

This video has been a great help. I'm not brilliant at holding fiddly things but I enjoy fly fishing also and tie my own flies - I find the use of a fly tying vice is also helpful with tying hook lengths etc. They can be found quite cheaply on eBay etc and if you struggle with dexterity can be a great help.

Hi Jon fantastic video on hair rig tricks love the Twisle system and also showing how stiff rig and soft rigs under, after, great for pellets and Waffters. Would be great to see how you set your pole floats as I seem to have problems once I've set them up and using different baits. Great watch keep up the good work fella look forward to more top tips.

excellent upload Jon i been a carp angler now for over 20 years and previous 20 as a match angler and i have certainly intertwined all the disciplines when it comes to rigs.. i still pleasure fish the pole/waggler/feeder/lure etc inbetween carp fishing and we certainly do learn from eachother for sure.

Nice video Jon, ever since seeing you using a big loop it's all I use now, I like using the quick stops for big worm's or two or three worm's it's great for greedy carp, Tench and Bream, the perch and big roach also muscle in, I use it on the pole most of the time very rarely with a feeder
