I recommend everyone to just buzcut your hair every now and then. When you see that you actually don't look too bad with nearly no hair on your head, you'll worry less about balding.

Great timing, Greg! After having to deal with major thinning on my temples for the past 5 years (I am now 37 years old), I have just undergone a FUE transplant 4 days ago, in hopes to regain my head of hair back. So far I can tell you that the surgical procedure was very simple and quick, and that I can advise it to anyone who still wants to keep their hair getting into their 40´s. Norwood Scale type 3 here, btw! Thanks for the great content, as always! And keep on growing that marvellous mane, my friend!

Excellent combination
Grey hair. Grey beard. Grey IMPOSSIBLE shirt. Killer combo 👊🏼
I'm a 35 year old who is between a Norwood 3-4 with some general thinning on top (no bald spots). Based on pictures, I started "maturing" in my early 20's, experiencing the general thinning in my mid 20's and at 28 aggressively receding to where I am now (this is when I actually noticed I was balding). After much deliberation, I decided to get on Finasteride - age 31. I've seen little to no improvement in my hair but it has not gotten any worse in the 4 years since I started taking the medication. I'm still not happy with my appearance, so I am considering a hair transplant. I can deal with the thinning, but the heavy recession (think Richard Nixon hairline) is what really gets to me.
Very informative video Greg, glad you talked about all the treatments. Would you personally try any of them if you went to a Norwood 3/4? Or if you started thinning would you get a small transplant?
@BerzinskyRules

Greg Berzinsky 😂 Only if I get credit. But yeah the transplant route I agree would be best for you, especially since the technology has gotten so great and non-invasive. You could be a Norwood 0! Do you think you would do the FUT or FUE?
Having Greg Berzinsky talk about hair loss is like having me be a spokesperson for Magnum Condoms
You rarely if ever talk about diffuse thinning which is a form of male pattern baldness, but it doesn't involve only temple recession and crown thinning, but rather thinning all over the front, top and back of the head and it's very common.
Is your hair naturally straight or is it curly?? Mine is curly AF and I hate this schitt. I still haven't figured out what kind of beard to grow out. As always, great video...
I'm somewhere between stages 3 and 4. Very high temples and thinned some on top. I look good with a side-parting (long hair) but with a middle-parting you can see my scalp on the whole front/upper area of my head. The hair in that zone is also brittle and easily breaks off. So, soon I'll be sporting an involuntary mullet! Life is full of surprises, hah. I used to have very thick hair, but then it started thinning out at age 25, and I'm now 31, so I've slowed it some. I'm not too fond of losing my hair, as I also enjoy having long hair. But Greg, you're still gonna be my style icon number one, even if you go bald! You're ageing like wine either way. I totally get that anxiety, though. I think the high temples of stage 2 and 3 looks good, honestly. It's a strong, masculine look. But the thinning on top isn't super great with a long style, unless it's little enough that you can conceal it. My grandpa is the only one in my family who lost his hair, and he got all the way to stage 7 before he died at around age 65 (I was 5 when he died, but I do remember what he looked like, because I liked him a lot.) So I guess that's the sad future of my hair too then, if I should go by my genetics. Oh, well. I'm working on embracing my hair loss, which I'm sure I will eventually, but not until I'm done panicking about it first. I'll delay the inevitable a bit more, while working through my emotions about it. Then when I'm ready, I'll quit the Minoxidil and let go of my hair.

I appreciated your comment a lot, although I'm still at 19 yo I can relate with that final part and I laughed a bit ngl, thats what life is all about even the part of losing our lives itself. I also enjoy having longer hair, never liked cutting since a kid then tried out almost 2 years ago, had some cuts and a very bad one but still kept on going, I will let it grow while I do my stuff without being desperate. I also want to donate my hair when it gets quite long, at the same time I want to let it be even when I start receiding at the front when older, like Da Vinci's portrait or the samurai cut. Also how have you been? And what did u decide? I'm kinda curious ngl, hope ur doing well overall.

Microneedling is also an option to supplement many of the mentioned methods.
Started to lose my hair at 28 at the temple area, then a year later at the back. It really annoyed me having to make sure it didn't move through out the day, and getting it wet was the worst thing haha. Got worse and worse, until I hit 32 and just shaved I all off on a no guard. Now I am at 34 and loving it and I wish I did it sooner. It's a big deal when it starts, and having no idea what to do, but I have never met someone who shaved their head and regretted it. It never looks as bad as people imagine.

As your hair length increases, it looks like you’re losing more hair because the hairs are longer, so count how many individual hair strands you’re losing. Also, if you’re seeing a lot of extra hairs, but they’re a lot shorter than your hair, that just means that the ends are breaking off, so address how you’re taking care of it.

Great job Greg. It's possibly the best video made on the subject. You pretty much laid out all of the options. The one thing that made me not want to do any of these treatments, is the fact that you still have to take prescriptions until the day you die, meaning that you're going to worry about having hair on your head FOREVER. Life's too short and full of reasons to worry, losing your hair shouldn't be one of those reasons.

Hats are nice things. I'm 55 NW 3-4v. I found that a stylish hat covers my thin areas and looks good as just as apparel, with or without hairloss. You can change hats with the weather or your mood. They can dress up a t-shirt and jeans and offer some sun protection for your head. A transplant may be in the cards for me as my hairloss, while upsetting to me, isn't extreme. But the cost will be 10-15K (unless I fly to Turkey) and I'm not sure that the gains will be all I'd hope for. The truth is nature always wins in the end and we simply have to work with what we've got. For now, hats are an inexpensive and stylish choice.

Great video, it’s a topic most man are embarrassed to talk about. I started noticing my hair line receding about 5 years ago and immediately got on Finasteride and I have been on it ever since, my hair line come back and I have ZERO side effects from the medication. Am seeing a lot of comments about just accepting it and shave your head that’s cool but I want to have the option to do so and not be forced when I can do something about it. One very important factor to consider is that high DHT labels cause hair loose but also cause ENLARGED PROSTATE so seeing your hair beginning to fall is an early indication that your have an hormonal imbalance and that’s why more testosterone is converting into DHT. The medication is NOT expensive if you know how to get it correctly prescribed. I pay $3.00 dollars a month for a 30 day supply.

As someone who is bald I think it's actually really bad advice to try and tell people to take potions and drugs and get this surgery and that surgery because ultimately none of it works, minoxidil and finasteride slow the hair loss but they don't make your hair grow back that is already lost and it will still continue to fall out and hair transplants are extremely expensive, need multiple surgeries and "touch up" surgeries for the rest of your life to maintain a natural appearance and they're not even guaranteed to work, they literally tell you that some or even all of the grafted hair can just fall out after surgery I went through all this but decided not to get the surgery thank god. I think it's much more important to teach men that going bald is just a normal natural thing and that it's not something you should fear worse than cancer.

The doctors don't tell you enough about the problems afterwards, this includes the fact that a lot of the transplanted hair can simply fall out after being transplanted, they actually tell you this is possible but not that they pretty much know it will happen and not all grafts will take so your transplant will likely be patchy as hell, you wont have a full head of hair you'll always look like you're balding.
