    " Your Akkermansia muciniphila levels should hover between at least 0.5% and at most 5% of your total gut bacteria. In healthy people, scientists typically see bacteria levels at about 4%" too much is asociated with Alzheimers and other Neurological problems. Since A.M. is very common and all people have it in their microbiome... if you want to increase it just eat more cranberry daily for a few weeks as a prebiotic, also if you do a several days water only fasting, the level of A.M. will increase since they will eat the lining of the digestive track like Mucine for food, while other microorganisms will diminish by lack of nutrients. You will save some money instead of buying chemicals and pharmaceutical products like probiotics that are unproven.

    2023 study. " As shown in our results, an overabundance of A. muciniphila led to a thinning of the intestinal mucus layer, which allowed harmful bacteria to directly contact the intestinal epithelial cells, further causing epithelial cell damage and disrupting the tight junctions between the cells.Mar 2, 2023" I think more research should be made in the years to come.

    Thank you. I have thin or low intestinal mucus (presumably due to my low IgA) and recently purchased some Akkermansia. I will do a little more research. I also have two close cases of AD in my family and am concerned about possibly increasing risk for that. Have been searching for this study and cannot find it. I see plenty suggesting AM is beneficial to the aging brain/ cognition but not the one you mention. Could you please supply the ref?

    Akkermansia is asociated with Alzheimers and other neurological problems ( I think that as long does not go more than 5% in the microbiome it may be safe). A. Mucinifila is the only Verrucomicrobia known so far. " A. muciniphila is considered an important diagnostic and therapeutic target for these neuropsychiatric disorders, and could be regarded as a “friend” in terms of host microbiota. However, contradictory findings have been reported regarding the relationship between the relative abundance of A. muciniphila and several neuropsychiatric disorders, making it challenging to determine the precise role of A. muciniphila in some of these disorders. However, there is still insufficient evidence to classify A. muciniphila as a “foe” based on current studies. Nevertheless, there is still a long way to go to develop A. muciniphila as a probiotic for neuropsychiatric disorders."

    I thought on another video by Colleen that she said Akkermansia does not colonize, but you say that it does if you take for 3-6 months. I also think the bottle states AFUs and not CFUs. I asuume if not colonizing that good chance this is a life long supplement. Can someone clarify?

    I watched another video where Colleen stated that her investors would not be happy to hear that you can take Akkermansia for 3 months at which time you should have enough in your system as long as you eat properly. Hope this helps. I just started taking MD and it seems to be helping my food cravings, my energy & my happiness.

    Having found out about the microbiome last year and the discovering that doctors and scientists at the cold front have been saying this for years…. How are you scientists so fact resistant (not insulin resistant) and why has it taken this long?
