HACK A BIKE - Ride / POV / Road bike / Gravel / Street cycling / Urban / Downhill / Speed / DIY

Спорт

I descended to mechanics hell for a week to finally achieve a working hack to run a MTB 11-42 tooth cassette on a road bike in combination with its massive 52-39 plates, that is before my arms and legs detach definitively from my body of climbing everyday the mountain's massive uphills with a generic road bike setup. This video was an initial test run where the hack was fully operational to ride around but still there's a lot more experimenting and polishing to do for sure. To be continued (bike check and demo in mind)

I used 11-40 Shimano SLX 11 speed cassette with a 105 groupset on my road bike when I went to Gran Canaria for the first time in 2022. I used Sunrace SP570 extender for that. It saved my life on steeper climbs. The shifting became a bit less precise and a bit more "sticky" but it was a good trade off for easier climbing.

Yeah in the city you can tell by the steepness of the street that the number of cyclist neighbours must approach to zero lol seriously i previously did a much better quality hack than this one with my 2x11 shimano grx gravel bike and without extender! but this 9 speed road bike it's much tough to crack, i really want to spread the info about this matter so i'm planning to do narrated nerdy bike checks but well my gravel bike it's been down since January, i think next week it will be up again so

Thanks! Well after 18 years of uphills about time i learn to install big sprockets 😂 it's kinda weird industry won't cover that gear range? but now many people are sharing their hacks so it was a big support for me, hopefully i'm able to do it as well

Nice hack, you also changed the handlebar? Now it's time for some wider tyres if there's room for it, more comfort and less flats 😊

well i also have a gravel bike with mtb tires, but believe it or not that 80's steel roadie is faster and nimble than my carbon gravel in some regards, that's why the gears hack is such a plus

@@IsaacRC Yeah I know that feeling. I have a 90's mtb with cromoly steel, fast and light with 3x7 gears. It really made me a stronger rider.
