Holy cow so much can be done in sops now. Thanks Jeff! Very helpful run down on the features.
Loved this video! So much pure information condensed so well and brought across beautifully. Cheers!
Vellum is amazing! Thank you!
speaking about plasticity in vellum would be great and especially that example in Houdini 17 launch presentation... almost everyone avoids speaking about plasticity... would you please make one especially about plasticity in vellum?

Great video, lots of detail and very comprehensive.
"wire removal was obviously done on this effect" had me rolling :D
I'm just wondering is Vellum a stand alone engine? Can it interact with other solvers like fluid?
Great video I’ve been playing around with the formula on 40:20 is there a way to make it “stop” emitting after a certain frame? Cheers!

You can chain together multiple expressions using "&&". As an example, "$F%10==1 && $F

I have a odd question I was wondering how much ram you would recomend for larger simulations on houdini? (im saving for a pc and love houdini)

32 GB or 64 GB. If you're asking, then you probably don't need more.

I have 12Gb, I know I need more, but Ive been able to do a lot of Sims by setting up at cache in disk while rendering.
Is this Simple Cloth removed from 18.5 version?
Can somebody please explain the differences between Houdini's Vellum and C4D Cloth/Soft Body?

Everything? They're not even comparable :) C4D is very old tech while Vellum is a PBD type optimized engine while the C4D one is looking at not only PT but also Prims I think!
Thanks for the tutorial. But, bacon falling on a pig's head. Really ?

Wait....why not? Did it hurt the polygons (or 1s and 0s if you wanna go deeper) feelings? :)

@@chillsoft I don't want to sound like a lecturer and I'm very grateful for the work you're doing. But given the horror that animals in slaughterhouses experience is no joke, a little compassion never hurts.

@@Nikos_prinio You are truly right in that regard, I apologise if I offended you. But still, that attitude has its forum and place and a 3D program presentation ain't it. I'm actually mostly a vegetarian and buy most of my stuff from local farms when I can, because of the reason you just gave. It's horrifying what the meat-industry does to animals. But polygons have no feelings and if the instructor wanted to make what he did, he should be able to. Cheers, and keep standing up for compassion in the world

@@chillsoft Thanks for your kind answer and sorry - again - because I'd never intended to play the part of a preacher of good conscience... As an instructor myself, one of the point I stress to young students is that we have powerful communication tools in our hands. We therefore have a responsibility towards those who do not. Our business is not neutral, we create and convey messages. I think doesn't hurt to have this in mind. Cheers and thanks :-)

If it's a DOP it should be available in Dops for other interaction. I have been seeing some artist build their DOPS into their SOPS, which I found confusing at first. Instead of jumping to a dop outside of your sop, you dive down. I have been just been trying to deep dive as many of these tutorials as I can, its starting to make sense.
