Of all Carter's relationships, the one with Del Amico should have survived all the others. Their connection felt natural, not feigned nor forced. Perhaps the writers knew that, as mentioned below, Bello had offers for movie rolls, so they injected Carter's wealth as the fissure in their relationship. I believe that unlikely, since Carter mentioned her only in passing when Lucy Knight arrives and gets her locker. They made her insecurity with his wealth a basis from the beginning, too. The scene, I forget the episode, where she lectures him in the dining room I believe, felt insincere. I loved about ER the fact that many characters simply disappear without explanation, reference, or sendoff. She deserved something with Carter. I so wish Bello had stayed around. I loved her character. An evolving, complex storyline could have been developed where she is with Carter at the Joshua Carter Center. [The other character that writers erred terribly in never mentioning again was Jing-Mei Chen. Though she was a significant part of County, no character mentions her name again after she leaves.]

I never really thought about him being wealthy. It wasn’t important to the story except for this episode. Only a handful of times did his wealth get brought up during the series .

I had a sort of similar occurrence. I received an invite to a barbecue and pool party by one of my nurses aides. Everything is soooo expensive in California (especially near LA) so I was a bit shocked once we arrived at her home. WOW‼️ what a beautiful (and very large) place! I was her hospital charge nurse, living in a small (one bedroom) apartment as that was what was affordable. 🤷🏼♀️
