Actually, the cost has to be worked backwards from painting. If you propose to use a costlier paint, you can save a considerable amount on the cost of paint,if you use a gypsum plaster. (A textured exterior wall needs 50% more paint)

Generally, in bathrooms, wall tiles are used upto 7 feet height. So, why can't gypsum plastering be done beyond that level? As such, once set, gypsum will not absorb moisture from air. Secondly, it is advisable to use gypsum plastering for ceiling also as it reduces the heat in the rooms under the open terrace. Thirdly, can gypsum with additive be used for external plastering? You have said its bettee to avoid bathroom and its common wall. Do you mean the common wall as back sdie the bathroom wall which can be room wall attached to bathroom. Also there is a possibility of droplets of rain comes inside thru opened windows and can create some wet adjacent to windows. Will it creates issues in the future
