Jon is the best
Epic product from Gyeon range. Used it a while back for EVO ONE prep and was so impressed. Easy to use and work, buffs a dream with no issues. 120ml will do a whole car no worries. Don’t like the fact it’s dyed blue. The fact you can apply a coating after 1 hour is awesome and really shows Gyeon understands users are doing this in their garage and driveway in a day. From experience it has very little cut and could only be a 1 stage on soft paint with minor swirls (rock hard BMW clearcoat it would do absolutely nothing!). Laboscosmetica do Fiero which is similar but not as good - very watery and tricky to use IMO. Would love to see the car afterwards 👌
Used this back in June, nice product to use, coated my car the following day and it looks amazing 😎 puts a smile on my face every time I look at and drive it.
I like these SiO2 primers. I've been using Carpro Essence for several years for my spring and fall cleaning. I give the paint a good decon wash and then run over it fairly quickly, almost like using it as a cleaner wax. In between i just wash with ONR and use Reload as my drying aid.
@craig.encinitas

That’s a good way to do it. I was under the impression you don’t want to do more than a couple of passes with Essence and other primer polishes. They say it can break down the SiO2 properties in the polish?
@TheNotimprezed
Жыл бұрын
@@craig.encinitas never heard that but I don't know why you would work any polish for very long or want to rely on it for really durable protection. If the paint is that bad, or you want more correction just do a cut. For my daily driver, that really gets trashed during the winter with salt, sand, and snow brushes pushing and grinding everything into the paint I've been really impressed with Essence on a green lake country pad. I'm not even sure of the durability of Essence or Reload since I put a little Reload on every 2 to 4 weeks with the ONR wash. Whatever is on at my last wash in October is long gone come March through.

Most stateside warehouse’s carry only the 120 ml bottle for $16 avg You can find the liter only on a couple of sites for $85 Sheeeeeeesh. I’ll wait to see what a bottle Rupes uno plus advanced sio2 Italian gunslinger costs. Maybe we’ll get more info closer to SEMA.
Love this stuff, topped with can coat eve leaves an amazing finish.
Did my mx5 with this and then can coat in February and it looks amazing. Still looks fantastic, will do it every year in the spring. Just wish they did a 250ml and 500ml!
Gyeon primer is a fantastic product, amazing gloss and super easy buff off. Perfect on brand new vehicles with a yellow Rupes pad to prep for coatings, capable of removing minor defects by adjusting some variables. Ideal for refining stage following paint correction (if coating afterward) and leaves a perfect finish on gloss black trims

I have been using some of the nice Sonax perfect finish to final stage prior to coating - thoughts? I'll try this since it's only $18...
Thanks Jon for going into detail about Gyeon Primer and the idea of waiting 24 hours to put a coating on the paint. I bought Gyeon Primer to use prior to application of Mohs and didn't want to wait 24 hours afterwards to apply the coating. Great content as usual.

Per Gyeon a panel wipe can be used without issue after polishing and then coat right after. The panel wipe won’t remove the silica.

i just dumped a bunch of money on gyeon stuff (including primer and the wax). very timely video ... now, i just need to borrow your garage :)
I like your E36 it takes me back to the days when I used to work on these all-day-everyday, its a mint example and I can see why you still use waxes and semi permanent SI02 products- so you can still enjoy and relax by fettling with the paintwork. I'd love to see this car in person and having been to the Haynes museum breakfast club meet your car would be in a perfect place and company for seeing it in person- much like your lovely self. Its on the first Sunday morning 8am every month., £5 entry and there are some great catering van companies for breakfast 👌
Hey John, how this compares with Carpro Essence??? Can you also wait an hour and wipe with Eraser while using Essence?
Hi Jon, I'm not convinced sir as I've seen 2 of my neighbours this week both using a green brillopad to remove marks and scratches on there cars. Looked fantastic until the paint dried😳 I've told them to watch your channel to try and help them lol yet another fantastic review. Keep up the good work👍😁

Hi Jon can Gyeon Q2 primer be applied by hand.? Thanks Rob
I'm hoping to apply a Gyeon Synchro coating in the morning. I did a 2 stage polish with Compound+ and polish, could I have maybe replaced the polish with the primer? I've got to wash the car in the morning by washing up liquid to get all the residue of old waxes off the car. That's the instructions in the coating manual. Would I still be able to use the washing up liquid with primer, or would that remove it? Any thoughts?
Very good product, for softer blacks I find essence slightly better tho.
What are your thoughts, i would like to polish old ceramic coating (pure evo), then perform new coating with same product. Is this primer good product for polish, is it strong enough to polish old coating away? I have almost perfect paintwork, no swirls etc. No need for strong correction.
Great video! I’m just like you I love detailing my car and being in the garage. I recently bought my dream car I did a 2 step paint correction and applied my first ceramic coating on the car. I used Koch chemie fine cut then gyeon primer to finish it out. For my protection I used the Gyeon synchro kit. The car was brand new but had some factory defects and I can not believe how much better polishing made it look then when I applied Mohs it made it look even better! The car looks amazing! I have to thank you for all your how- to videos & products reviews cause you and a few other KZreadrs made the process fairly easy for me just very time consuming. Lol
Plus one for a Gyeon AIO Jon 👌👍
There is quite a number of ceramic coating companies that has a ceramic primer polish. One reason I’ve been given is finishing on soft black paint that may get marred when doing a panel wipe. Key a primer is time for it to set. The most intriguing primer polish is Modesta P101A. It apparently contributes a few microns in thickness
@KiranPatel-fk1pg

The issue I see is having to wait 24hrs in Gyeons case before coating. If your going to panel wipe and apply the coating instantly I don't see a point to these primer polishes.
@KiranPatel-fk1pg

Also after 24hours it's likely some dust has landed on the paint, then requiring a wipe down most likely a dry wipe down to avoid messing with the primer polish... Just seems a bit counterintuitive
What pad is Jon using ?
Hi Jon, I'm looking to combo these 2 moving into spring, what do you recommend for maintenance shampoo? I currently have Meguiars gold class shampoo and gyeon bathe?? Looking forward to the results on my black Honda Civic

megs has very high cost per wash (over a pound) Gyeon bath essence, bilt hamber autowash, or carchem 1900:1 have very low cost per wash. I would go with the bath or bath essence (the essence can go a bit thick in the bottle)
Great vid Jon as always, Wondered have or will you do a vid or series showing how to rectify issues at all, only asking as recently purchased a slightly newer car. On the left rear arch doesn't look like it's been painted but under different light conditions I see or you can see a odd reflection or something it's hard to describe especially as it's only in certain light conditions. I'd love to get a pro to look at it first but can't find anyone local in North Kent.

rectifying paint issues? or coating issues? Ive done coating issues. But with paint. If you see texture in the paint its often sanding marks from the prep that are carried through even though the paint system has been put on. You can often improve them but flattening and polishing but it depends on that it is. it could be something totally different.

Would Gyeon Primer be appropriate to use on a brand new car (after decontamination/clay) before coating, or is something with more cut likely needed for an initial correction? I have a white Tesla Model Y coming soon and plan to coat with Syncro based on your review.

boom :) masterpiece of a novel and the original BBC series with jeremy irons was a masterpiece.
I‘ve been a fan, follower and defender of this channel pretty much since the start. I often share your videos in Facebook groups as they answer questions that get asked repeatedly. I honestly think that you are one of the most scientific, fact-based reviewers in this „industry“ whose opinion can‘t be bought. No, I don‘t always come to the exact same conclusions as you do with my testing, but mostly, I agree with you. However, I think this video needs a follow-up and/or correction in order to prevent the spread of -let‘s call it controversial - information. You said you can use Gyeon Q2 primer before applying ANY ceramic coating. That‘s the part I think is critical. Because Gyeon didn‘t test this product with ANY coating available on the market. You didn‘t. I didn‘t. However, what I did was test several different coatings with and without CarPro Essence - which is a very similar product. Those coatings where feom CarPro, Gyeon, and others. What I found was that Essence doesn‘t decrease the performance or durability of CarPro coatings, it can and will do so with coatings from other brands. Considering the time, effort and money that people put into the prep work before applying a ceramic coating, I think it would be fatal if they follow your advice, use Gyeon Primer with a coating from another brand, and then see their coating fail after a few weeks. That‘s why I think it‘s important to be precise with such products and say that you can use them if you stay within a manufacturer‘s system. If you don‘t, it will be an experiment. Considering the reach of your channel, I honestly think that you maybe should consider doing a follow-up video to clarify this aspect!

its a fair point, but... The product is advertised as a surface preparation and states after priming the surface its ready to be coated. But yes, what coatings, are their restrictions? Does it increase coating durability is a great thing to explore. For me Im just really filming myself using it before I put down Gyeon Wax. Im not really exploring the product very well in this video I do agree. perhaps follow up is needed :) you are always fair and honest

Realistically - likely splitting hairs here.... I have been in the car pro camp for years.... going to try gyeon and go all gyeon for my next polish/prep/coat situation... I'm guessing mixing among brands is in that 1-5% difference areana in most cases... That to me then falls into that whole category of "margin of error" in my mind. I think the vehicles paint/paint condition/and end user would matter more in most cases. I also think it's likely to be difficult/impossible to have real world empirical testing. Overall however - If one is going to go through the time/effort/energy - as it usually is a FULL DAY set aside - one may as well stick with ONE brand. Thoughts on Sonax perfect finish, then gyeon primer, then spray with prep, then coat? I bought BOTH the syncro kit AND the pure... I want to see if there REALLY is a difference on my midnight blue paint in terms of how they look... I might try the PURE on the rear wing - it has slightly lighter color than the rest of the car with it being 9+ years old/parked outside the past 2 years

I used this and have mixed feelings. The finish is really nice, but the product itself slings everywhere and goes in every tiny gap, even if you use really tiny amounts of product. And then it's very hard to clean it out of those gaps, trims, etc.

Jon, It’s called the Forensic Detailing Channel, but you keep saying Forensics….🤦♀️ 😜
This product seems to fill a need that no one has. I'd rather use a finishing polish, paint prep and that coat the paint straight after. Adding 24hours is a step backwards for me.
First from PR destroyed
First roll!
you will get over a car on one 120ml bottle easy.
I don’t know about the term glaze. That is going to cause confusion and it only takes one person to spread the term glaze for a primer polish. As far as primers there are quite a few Gyeon Q2 Primer, CarPro Essence, Shine Supply Slick Back and Dr Beasley’s has an entire line up that requires no panel wipe and can be coated right after.
Mate I used Mer the other day and it's better than any thing for a light car let's leave all the B S behind and get back to the basics
