I was like 14 when i came across Chaos AD, while browsing through a music shop back around 1994. Read something about them in a magazine, decided to check it out. I was the first one, out of everyone that i knew, listening to them. Few years later and *everyone* was listening to them. There was a lot of things i was into before it was "cool". But it didn't matter 'cause no listens to me anyway. Which it turns out, is good, because once things become too well known or popular. People have a way of ruining it.

The Spits are the shit, glad more people will know of them thanks to Gwar and you guys

Even though I couldn't name a single song by GWAR to save my life, this is, without a doubt, the best installment of What's In My Bag? ever! Like lots of metal heads, these guys are proof that you can't judge a book by its cover. Behind the outrageous clothing, makeup and other antics, this vid ends up being just about a couple of ordinary, funny, articulate guys (esp. the dude on the right) paying homage to their own musical heroes.

Simon and Garfunkel, Foster and Allen, Will Smith's entire music back catalogue (which they're buying for the second time because the CDs have degraded from such heavy usage), Sister Rosetta Tharp, Tinariwen, a boxset of recordings of Tibetan mouth music, Rizzle Kicks (who they're friends with), a mint condition original vinyl pressing of Pelican West by Haircut 100, Dust At Cubist Castle by the Olivia Tremor Control, both of Big Flame's LPs on vinyl because Gwar are so down with that whole '80s Post-Punk thing, Ghost Poet, because these guys have taste, Stockhausen, a cpl of Kylie CDs, and a Barbara Streisand CD just to take the piss.

This is my favorite WIMG so far...The greatness they had pulled out of there bags from the very start had me amazed! Showed love to some very great underrated bands. But real recognize real.

I miss oderus, but I love how the other band members personalities are up front now.

Now, this what I call a good episode

I'm not a fan of their music but I love to listen to their interviews. They're so humble and amusing. Also I love the fact that they went from one extreme to the other with the music; one of them bought an album by The cure and the other Motorhead album

OK. I never listened to GWAR and wrote them off as being a gimmick, but based on these choices alone I might have to give them a chance now. There are some really cool picks here.

One thing I will say is Everytime I've met or seen them interviewed,they are always friendly

Pustulus pulling out those 2 Zeke records got me stoked as hell. Zeke is the shit, it's good to see them get spotlighted.

I love the fact that Beefcake likes Amon Amarth. Also I wish Oderus was still around.

Something about Gwar, they always make me smile.

It's rare I find new music I like at my age. Usually some dink at work says " you like punk/metal? Check this out" and it's some crap that sounds like everything else but called something different. So I'll go with advice from a band I've been listening to for 30 years and see what happens. 3/4 of the bands they brought up I've never heard of. Should be fun. Also if you've never heard of nekrogoblikon, check em out!

KJ is a f'n triple A band, which influenced a whole bunch of genres and bands, starting from your Metallica - check "the wait" and Nirvana - check "Eighties" and compare it to "Come as you are". Not mentioning their impact on industrial. Yet they stay relevent, brutal and stronger than ever. RIP Raven.

Damn that was funny! all the stories were great but the guitar sound one and reaction was definitely my favorite. I'll have to check out some GWAR now.

OMG, this was by far the best one of these I have seen. Seen a lot of them, they all pale. It played out exactly how I thought it might. " You dont like the cure, Ill fight you!" Just so one the nose, absolutely brilliant.

this concept kicks fucking ass , i've seen about a dozen of these , never disappoint , always at least something interesting in everyone's bag , well done

Wow ive never listened to Gwar and this music recommendation put them on the top. Really awesome interview made me laugh hard.

Comparing Mentors to Led Zeppelin IV. And he was serious! Pure gold. This just came up in my KZread recommendations and I can't believe I've never seen this before. This is the best What's in My Bag I've ever seen. Definitely a couple of new (for me) bands I will have to check out.

I would have liked to see more movie references I guess. For me Gwar is an in person live band, an experience, I have never listened to the music really. Though the homage at the end there to the Cure and Killing Joke remind me of the Pretenders quote, "we were punk rock but then we leaned how to play our instruments".
