Why is someone, who is 'anti-life' getting up every day to eat breakfast and make some music? That someone may be on medication, may cut himself with a razor, may even hate life. Life can be fucked up, can kick one's arse. No denying. Yet someone who chooses to be creative instead of jumping out of the window (in a split second) chooses life. The irony of her not doing her research before purchasing a ticket to the show but telling the promoter that he needs to research the bands he books.

I saw them perform at the full terror assault festival a few weeks ago. Hours before they played, I met with the vocalist Niklas Kvarforth and he was very nice and down to earth. we talked a bit about how they enjoyed America and other stuff. I told him that they are one of my favorite bands and that their recent album was amazing and he said thank you. I also took a pic with him as well. he also showed me his scars as well and I was like "so awesome Hehe." When they did performed, they kicked ass and it was an experience too. Surprising, Niklas didn't cut himself on stage, not that matters. To this person who got "offended", I'm sorry to say this honey but maybe you should do some research next time before you go to a show. First of all, it's a metal show, what do you expect? like how fucking dumb are you? Don't like it, get Fuck out.

Didn’t know FTA had Shining on the bill a few years ago. I plan on going to this years even though it’s a lot of brutal death and thrash/crossover. Hopefully they’ll get some black metal bands, but at this point still bands TBA

This reminds me of a death metal concert I went with some guys . And there was a little hipster that was staring at us while we were headbanging like " man , stop this shit , wtf" . I think you raise some interesting points - I think the key to this is, as you rightly say, if the music/performance is not for you you are always free to NOT be there and while the girl in question has every right to her opinion (something which I think you should have pointed to in the interest of balance), she also had every right to walk away and spend her time doing something else. I totally respect the girl for using live music as an escape from her troubles, and think its great she has overcome what sounds like some pretty messed up times... but i also feel that a person who is sensitive to such things should be prepared to check the performance is suitable for them and their enjoyment before claiming to feel violated by it. Not doing that (research) doesn't make her an idiot - just a little careless given her sensitivity. At the end of the day - fair play to her for giving Black Metal a go - it sounds like it wasnt for her at all - and that's totally fine. It is a shame she felt the need to moan about it online...but by the same token, you made a 10 minute video moaning ABOUT her moaning. I am not getting at you, I spent 10 minutes watching you moan about the girl moaning! My point is that it is all trivial BS.... Much respect on the videos. Joey

Shining is- Niklas Kvarforth and his amazing band.He is a fucking maniac.the sounds on the 2017 #10 album just blow my mind! I love it and expect nothing but shitting myself in euphoria over the anger,song structure and balls these guys have every time they put something out! good video dude!

I agree. I don’t understand why people can’t just be adults and either leave if they don’t vibe with what’s going on, or embrace being offended and let the art just be what it is... To me, great art confronts our fears... our uncomfortable places in our minds... it challenges our darkness... our pain. Black Metal is a big Fuck You to what’s deemed “acceptable” or “right” and that’s why I’m drawn to it. It makes me question my deeply held beliefs, opinions, etc... it’s primal, it’s raw and completely in opposition to the norm. I honestly think this woman just wanted to have something “provocative” to write about, and just made it dramatic for the sake of a writing “gripping content”. It’s embarrassing that she knew so little going into this show... or so she claims.

In Copenhagen a metal club/concert place ended up closing down, because of the lyrical content from a band. They had booked a reggae band, that apparently had anti gay lyrics in some of their songs. A local politician read about it, and removed some financial support, that all cultural and art venues can receive. Then the financial crisis came, and they couldn't keep it running and had to close it down. Such a shame... it was a great place

She is letting her emotions overwhelm her logic. Marilyn Manson triggered people just as hard back in the 90s, but she'd likely consider him tame. She needs to back up and realize that she was personally caught off guard, and say "Well played, crazy dude from Shining".

I saw them like a week after that happened and it was basically the same show. He did the same stuff but we had no whiny bitches there. Then I met Niklas and I can tell he is fucking nuts. He was being psycho and weird but funny and cool at the same time. I had a great fucking time hahahaha

Isn't it a case that people aren't hurt or disturbed by a (here) band's performance but they are indeed hurt by their perception of how a band or someone should behave? I don't blame that woman, she just doesn't comprehend some things. Black metal is a way of coping for many people, including the musicians. Cutting is a way of coping for disturbed persons too. Shining makes amazing music, but yes their performances may be shocking to some. Different people have different needs and thresholds of sensitivity. Peace to all of you.

I think it's just PR-fodder for Shining, to be honest. It's too dumb to be real, it embodies the "triggered SJW" stereotype too well and without any degree of nuance. I can attest that I was never threatened or offended in any way from Shining, even when I was 12 years old and thought Bethlehem & Abigor were the scariest thing ever. It seems strange that anyone who would have a basic idea bout what what black metal is, would be THIS offended. But it's just my opinion, could be wrong.

Dude... I mean I don't wanna blame her or anything, casue you know some people are sensitive and there is no point to make fun of it. but it's black metal. If you can be triggered at least one band will find a way. They throw blood at you half the time. How is not Belphegor triggering really? How, since knowing you have triggers, you don't check who's playing at least a bit. Shining was probably the worst shit to encounter for someone with self-harm problems - Unless seeing that helps you which it does for a lot of people. But they are not the first to do it, and certainly, they were not the last. The singer has quite a lot of issues himself, and was/is an asshole you probably don't wanna be stuck with somewhere, but he really is nothing to be afraid of on concerts. Doesn't seem to be at least. He is not a nazi - the tattoo has a pentagram on it, Rammstein use the eagle with their own logo. I think he even kicks nazis out on shows. Don't talk to him if you don't like him and you'll be fine. Did something happen to you other than you getting yourself scared really? Which is the fucking point of shining. Francly, how do you feel safe on concerts in general if Shining is capable of scaring you? I know it's what he wants and tries to do but worse people and scarier people had done worse and scarier shit. And usually on shows, the expected threat is from the audience not someone who is on stage and everyone is looking at. No one will stop a show over you being offended. Hell, if you have been hurt on concerts you'd know no one will stop a show over you being hurt. Literally, everyone had fun that night but you. I don't take black metal as seriously as you seem to. it is pretty edgelordy all the way from trve Norway. There is just something beautiful about the sound of it. The themes have always been a bit childish to me. Shining is more serious than most actually. And even them I don't take too seriously outside of music. Great fucking music while we're at it. Black metal is no more dangerous than anything else, just takes shit to an extreme, but it is expected people who are there are into that kind of shit. It's like everyone is in on it, but that one person who has a huge ego and thinks a show should be stopped because she doesn't get it. That said - Every concert is dangerous. Black metal, power metal, fucking Coachella. I don't care if you are alone amongst that many strangers, man or a woman, you need to be careful otherwise you are just being a dumbass. Also why was I recommended a video from 2016?! I know I listen to Shining a lot lately, but really?

I can kinda see where she is coming from. I have PTSD from a nasty cutting accident. If I were to go to see them not knowing what shinning is about I'd probably just watch from a far or vape my lungs outside. Same thing I did with Watain when they were throwing pigs blood vegetarian. I still enjoyed the hell out of the show. I understand the ethos of black metal and that's what I love about BM

It's funny now that I saw them live on the Under The Doom festival in Portugal, and he was quite sane, with the exception of flipping people off and like saying "gracias" instead of "obrigado", which, it's not that like bothers me too much, but it's a sensitive topic within portuguese people, confusing Spanish with portuguese or Brazilian with portuguese, while also wanting to murder the staff of the venue due to sound problems in the first song, I admit that the sound on the festival wasn't good in general but still, it almost looked like the guy was going to punch someone in the face ahah XD

Pretty sure it was a gag and wouldn't surprise me if she and Niklas were both in on it as he mentioned her and she did her best to promote the bands she's mentioned in the blog/article including Shining.

I get why she has a problem with that, being faced with something you had a problem with can be really difficult. Maybe she stayed because she wanted to see the other bands or whatever, you don't always think every option through when you're hit with something. I don't think black metal has to be that extreme, look at Dimmu Borgir and Abbath. They're awesome and not that over the top. I kinda feel you overreacted to be honest :\

I just think that he is very sad person and unaware of how his condition is serious. And people are supporting him. I am just a person and I feel sorry for him. I like their music but Idk if I could take their live performance.
