Guo Pei: Inside the world of China's couture queen
Ойын-сауық
Her star rose after she dressed Rihanna in the 2015 Met Gala, but there is so much more to China's first lady of fashion. On 4 May 2015, Rihanna wore the label’s now-famous Yellow Empress gown to the Met Gala - a breath-taking yellow cape that took two years to create and 50,000 hours’ worth of embroidery. Pei - who had by then been designing couture for 30 years - immediately became a fashion star, raising a greater awareness of Chinese fashion generally.

I fell in love the first time I saw her work. Even now, I'm still in awe. Fashion IS ART. ART IS EVERYWHERE
Oh how beautiful, they looks like fairy goddesses! What a creative woman.
I love her eye for bling and the way the cuts of her gowns tend to create a floating effect. She loves drama and is very passionate, a rare glimpse into the normally extremely closed and reserved China. My grandmother would be loving this if she were alive. She always spoke of pre-revolution times and the glamour there was. She also mentioned the severely divided social classes and how hard it was to go "up" the social ladder.
Looks like clothes that fairies would use . So beautiful and intricate . Big fan
Beautiful textiles & embroidery. Please may I have 4 yards of everything 👗

This collection is beautiful! It’s couture fashion so it’s supposed to be out there/ not for every day wear. How is she pretentious?

Are you for real? This collection is beautiful. The only pretentious thing here is your comment (and channel). Sounds like moi is just plain jealous 🙄
Well, she's a brilliant artits, but her understanding of couture is wrong. Couture since its creation and until today is created with the intention to be sold and worn. Perhaps what she makes is not meant to be worn, but she musn't generalise - French couture, the real couture, are clothes for people to wear.
