they played for almost 3 hours in most of their shows, and would play one show after another with a maximum 3 days break between them, but not even a full 24 hour in most cases. Also, their tour at this time period lasted for more than 2,5 years. Imagine singing like that under those conditions, it was an obvious result, but I don't think he regrets it

She was born around the time this song came out, she has no understanding before "woke" marxism. She grew up on autotune and rap music stealing music from the 80's and 90's, she has no clue how great life was in the 80's and 90's. About to hit the wall as we said back in the day.

I believe this was the first original song that Guns N' Roses wrote together as a band... but this 1992 performance was without founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin (who quit the band in late 1991) and original drummer Steven Adler (who was fired in 1990)... They got guitarist Gilby Clarke playing Izzy's parts and Matt Sorun on drums. This live concert was a snapshot of a young Guns N' Roses at their peak... unfortunately, the band imploded after the tour ended in 1993 and they were never the same again even after 2016 when Slash and Duff McKagan (bass) reunited w/ Axl Rose to tour again.

Axl in his prime was an absolute force. Very insightful comment on the "giving it his all" too. Big reason the concerts were so delayed back then. He wouldn't go on until he felt he was in the proper mindset to give 110% for 2.5 hours. Could take quite a while to get there sometimes. Not that same force of nature these days- but seems a lot happier IMHO- and much more prompt! Lol!

The only thing bigger than Axyl’s voice was his ego, GNR could have put a lot more great music into the world had he appreciated his band mates and their joint success, rather then being how he was. Although he has lived and learned before it was completely too late.

Not just ego, also serious mental and emotional issues at this time that he was sharing on stage with us. He really shouldn't have been performing in '93 and his bandmates all needed rehab and weren't of much use to anyone.

All right, Biss, a wee bit of a history lesson vis-a-vis men's attire. Before Michael Jordan made the baggy long shorts popular in the early 90s, men's shorts were short. Just look at Maradona running down the soccer field in the 1986 World Cup. And boxers weren't really a thing or as popular as they became. So, I think those were actually shorts, my best guess. 😉💕

Also, you have to take into consideration that in the whole 80s glam rock scene that they came out of, it was the style to wear tight fitting clothes, the spandex, the big hair, etc. that even in that day, were honestly quite effeminate. Even before that, look at the shit Steven Tyler of Aerosmith use to wear. Aerosmith was one of GNRs favorite bands and influences, and early on they toured with them, but Aerosmith has a song called "Dude Looks Like A Lady" for a reason. These very masculine rock stars that believe me, slept with more women then I'm likely to even ever meet in person in my life, but sometimes looked a lot like women. David Bowie was famous for having a very androgynous look. That was a look in those days, and it was supposed to defy societal expectations and piss off the squares. Even going back further than that to the 60s, just a man with long hair wasn't as normalized as it is today. Crosby Stills and Nash had a song called "I Almost Cut My Hair Today". In the counter culture movement of the 60s, a man growing his hair long, was a statement against society and the establishment. It was a sign of rebellion! Besides, Axl runs around on stage a lot. It's tough work! It gets hot and sweaty! Let him dance around in his underwear if he wants!

This song has a very interesting but sad peculiarity, in the original studio video, Axl recorded it with his friend Shannon Hoon, who passed away in 1995. Since then, Axl said he would no longer sing this song. Only in 2007 in Japan, at the end of the show he surprised everyone by singing it in an acoustic version, reports from band members and the public that Axl was crying while singing. kzread.info/dash/bejne/f2yiltegpseanKQ.htmlsi=lWcj9x_qcZghLnQ4

Awesome reaction. I hope that you'll post more GnR reactions. I am so happy that you posted this, GnR are great :) Axl has always had an eccentric way with clothes (sometimes, lack there of), lol. Axl is a natural baritone, but he has had a crazy vocal range, so his ability to use lower register, his rasp, his high pitch & his screams is so very impressive & amazing. Yes, Axl has had vocal cord damage, so his vocals these days are not the exact same as they once were, but Axl has always had some great live performances & also some not so great, even in his younger years (I love all GnR performances no matter what), and Axl is still awesome live (when he feels well. he is only human). I have been a huge GnR fan since 1990, I saw GnR in 2017 & also in 2023, and Axl still has fantastic vocals, despite everything. He blew my mind away, in the best way. My hubby saw GnR in 1988 and again in 2023, and he agreed with me that they still rock :) If you prefer older GnR concerts (they were young, angry & raw. I cannot deny their awesomeness), I would suggest: Estranged, Knocking on Heavens Door, Mama Kin, Patience.

Boxers/shorts, Microphone stand: Freddy Mercury. Piano: Elton John. Those are the main influences in songs and when performing. Rest is just Axl Rose being Axl Rose. This show was recorded and distributed/sold officially. Knowing the importance of this show, same with the Paris PPV show, you bet they all are as sober as they could have been during that period. Especially Axl. He's even hitting those high notes when running around. The band was at their prime and beyond here. Axl had a 5 octave vocal range. That's what you're seeing/hearing here and on the records. Hey. Have you checked out Yoshiki and/or X Japan? You definitely should put it on your to-do list. I keep recommending it till you do... 🤣❤ Keep up the good work!!!

He's not just a rockstar, he's Axl Rose and he can wear whatever he wants. Think about what Robert Plant, Steven Tyler and Mick Jagger wore onstage. That's how rock stars dress and behave, but he was not high. He stopped using very early on. Axl was a perfectionist and demanded perfection

I was 12 when this was filmed...and absolutely obsessed with everything about this band. The first time I saw Slash perform live in person was a solo Snakepit show in Milwaukee, July, 2001. Sparse crowd. My sister and I ended up mobbing him and touching his arms when he was walking from the autograph table to the makeshift backstage. Met him in November, 2007 at the MOA for his book signing in Minneapolis, MN. My now husband got a picture of him and I shaking hands. I saw Velvet Revolver in January, 2008 at Eagles Vlub Milwaukee, so Duff, Slash, Scott Weiland, and Matt Sorum (and Dave Kushner). Duff gave me his sweat band after the show. We were in the front row and got his attention. Met Duff at his book signing in October, 2011 at MOA. Finally saw GNR July 3, 2016 Soldier Field, Chicago, IL.

Ok so let’s clarify the outfits. Fans LOVED the wardrobe for this tour. It’s part of his signature look & most girls effin loved it. I actually think it’s one of my fav looks he’s done. He had a whole collection of those types of shorts and they looked perfect on him. You might like his wardrobe in his Live At The Ritz show tho better if this show’s wardrobe isn’t your thang. You should review that show. It’s a fam fav as one of their best performances of all time as was this one. I like how you said he gives everything in his performances cuz that’s true & what made the band so amazing on stage. Axl preferred studio back then I think over performing but he is so amazing at it that when fans saw the level of passion he brings on the stage it immediately resonated with them as something so amazing that people hadn’t seen like that before… and all rockstars are known for their energy on stage as a hallmark of the art form. A decent review. You should come check out some my gnr content. Been in the fandom since the beginning so a bit of an expert even if I don’t know everything. You should check out my concert review cuz it was a legendary show but at a crap venue with an outdated sound system and a school choir sang along the whole time. Cuz kids got rewarded for axing AP English class & this show inspired a kid who won a literary award he was so floored by the performance. Sometimes it helps to Have perspective of fans who were there or who have been in the fandom for so long they know why the different band traditions and such. I see a lot of new Millennial rock fans doing song reviews and often seem to miss the point of the song, as in don’t even know or speak to its meaning, and they just talk for 9-10 mins about how they liked it or didn’t like it. I’d prefer reviewers focus on performance quality, the meaning behind songs, the music artistry and what made the song unique for its time, & put some context to why these songs became such big hits and made an impact in the world of rock. So that’s my general advice to all reviewers. The bands connection and way they resonate with fans during their live shows is also a hallmark of this band and you can always feel the fan’s love as they sing along or cheer for the things they say. So when people discuss rock music on KZread I want them looking at those things, not just spending 10 minutes on if they liked ot. Here you spoke to vocal quality… ok so we have some disagreements over their new song. I did a review of that song too, cuz I loved it and my birds loved it so much they didn’t wanna stop listening to it which always helps me in my reviews to see others reactions). And we disagree about the boxers. But fans can like different things and agree to disagree… all I know is my bird is more obsessed with his hair than his boxers. Lol. She’s a biggest parrot fan I recently learned. But I believe the boxers were for a few reasons. One: Axl gets very hot and sweaty on stage. He dislikes that. So outfits like that help him perform better cuz his body temp remains cooler… and it’s sexy af!!! Back then the ladies loved it. I still love it. Lol. And red a good color on him. He wears a piano coat at the piano to be respectful cuz classically trained pianists this used to be a hard requirement for performing but fans were also confused by this initially. Elton John whom he’s a fan of also wears a coat even if it’s piano at a rock show. It’s cuz that instrument gave them their livihood and they show respect for the art form. His kilt is to honor his Scottish heritage… so everything he wears is for a reason. Even if just practicality when he’s too overheated on stage. Hope that adds some helpful tidbits for your reviews. I did a vid discussing fandom traditions too which I never hear these new reviewers even mention knowing so felt I should remind the world why the fandom has certain traditions like the Nightrain tradition. Seems like a song about getting wasted but it turned into a song that symbolizes helping others in need even if it was just showing up at a friends house who needs cheering up with a bottle of the stuff and every year thousands of people in the fandom still do this. They also fed the homeless as a nightrain tradish. So these songs made a bigger impact in the world cuz what they came to mean to fans, & I really wish more reviewers today would mention that sort of stuff when discussing the band. Nice review though. You had a big smile during slash’s solo. I can tell you like their music so keep learning. They taught me so much about music just listening to them for decades. They were a transitional band who exposed kids to new subgenres of rock. Listen to Get in the ring & see how many different rock genres are in one song. Back then it was all hair bands and kids hadn’t always been exposed to blues or death metal. So they helped educate a lot of Gen x kids on music which is also super important to this band: music education. There’s always a music lesson in every song they do. For instance, their new song The General, which got mixed reviews that initially perplexed me, & I was like “is nobody hearing the subtle hints of industrial rock studio skills in this song for crying out loud?!!! 😳🤔 How did new Millennial reviewers miss that? Listen to the effects. Anyhow look forward to seeing more of your reviews. Always love seeing what other fans have to say, & God bless.
