Gumball has to be the most unique family cartoon on TV. There's a certain charm it has with both the animation and writing that nothing else has. I used to watch it as a kid, now I'm an adult, and I still love it.

I love how most of the characters also fit into the plan, by using something unique to them. In no step of the plan it would have worked with another character. That just set the standard for how good this show was already going to be, if they can use their characters in such a creative way in 1min and 30sec

I always felt that Chowder and The Amazing World of Gumball had a kinship with each other. They're 2D animated shows that segways into and/or incorporate 3D animation (stop motion and/or computer animation) and they have mostly meta/4th wall humor and the main characters were once voiced by the same person! However I also feel sad as well, because imagine if these shows were never picked up, that would mean that these pilots would be all that we’d have of their greatness, and all the sweet memories we have of them would’ve never happened

It’s wild how Gumball used to be 2D and Darwin 3D, instead of the whole Waterson family being 2D like in the full show.

I REMEMBERED THIS! I remember one night I was up late and this pilot actually just showed up randomly on Cartoon Network inbetween shows when you'd usually have an ad break, and I think it would have been around 2008 as well. This was always one of those things I was pretty sure was real but also felt a little like it could have been a dream.

I was born 2011 the year the first episode of gumball was made and this was made in 2008 so I was not able to watch the pilot thanks for putting this on KZread.

It's actually nice seeing that most of the characters contain their pilot looks in the finalized product of the show. Well, most of it.

It’s crazy how this is more for little kids, before changing to have an older audience. Imagine what “little kid shows” could also have been changed in the same way.

i like the pilot style so much more, it makes it feel more child-like

@@kansasstatealerting2424except seasons 3-6, rocky’s nose got a SLIGHTLY BIT bigger and also, rocky had actual fingers in the pilot and not just thumbs

I love how gumball looks like a character made in an anime and darwin looks like a 3D model still worked on

I love how the only thing that stayed between this and the final version is the mix of art styles

Ok..first for all..Teri was originally a man.. Second.. Darwin was originally a 3d fish..

Darwin was originally going to be 3D but guess what? 3D animation for Darwin is time consuming, so he have to make him 2D.

If you look on the Wikipedia page you can find out more about the original Teri character, his name was meant to be Paper Boy originally

I like that they made it so that Alan was with Carmen instead of Masami. The irony of that relationship makes it way better. I also wonder if they were referencing their original idea of Alan being with Masami in the episode where Masami created a plan to bring Carmen and Alan apart so she could be with him.

I've been watching this cartoon since 2011. I remember watching TAWOG with my cousins and now its coming to an end.
